But then she thought, ‘If the Mystic Sect could clone Porter for Joanna, why didn’t they just clone Landon for Monica?‘
“Their cloning technology is pretty mature, but clones usually have some flaws. Monica is a perfectionist and wouldn’t accept a cloned husband,” Landon explained.
Amelia felt completely at ease now.
Just picturing Monica getting all lovey–dovey with a cloned Landon made Amelia shudder. ‘Ugh, I can’t handle this! My eyes! That’s way too much!‘ she complained inwardly.
“Hey, sis, this coffee and pastries are really good,” Kayla said.
Amelia looked shocked and nervous, so Kayla guessed Landon must have told her something big.
‘Come on, spill it! Let me in on the secret!‘ she thought anxiously.
‘Damn, I’m his own sister and I still can’t read Landon’s mind,’ Kayla grumbled to herself.
“Yeah, it is. That’s why I’ve been kind of obsessed with this place lately,” Amelia said, taking a sip of her coffee and then started typing on her phone.
Kayla read the message, her face turning pale with shock and fear.
Amelia casually deleted the message and went back to sipping her coffee like nothing happened.
Kayla started drinking her coffee too, taking sip after sip.
Landon watched the two of them trying to steady their nerves with coffee, and his heart ached for them.
“Don’t worry, they’re relying on tech–honestly, that’s a good sign,” he sent a reassuring thought.
“Mm, it’s good,” Amelia murmured absentmindedly.
When Gloria was poisoned by Cardemora, the so–called antidote was totally unscientific, leaving everyone completely confused and at a total loss for
what to do.
And all those “supernatural trinkets” in Marvin’s study just pushed them further into thinking it was all some kind of occult stuff.
Ever since coming to Dreicean, Amelia had worried more than once that Landon might get caught up in one of Monica’s mystical schemes.
But if everything was actually rooted in science, then the Flying Tiger Sect might really stand a chance.
“Amy, there’s something else I need to tell you…” Landon sent the thought to her.
Amelia frowned, thinking, ‘Just say it already! Why are you dragging this out?‘
“Actually, your dad, Porter, isn’t dead. He’s been alive all along,” Landon told her mentally.

‘Dad’s alive?‘ Amella’s mind went blank.
“Giovanna and I both saw him. He was in Pinecrest, keeping vigil at your mother’s grave, fut he’s been wracked with guilt and just can’t bring Eitruelt see you. Please try to understand,” Landon explained.
Amelia’s heart thundered in her chest, beating like crazy.
‘Dad’s in Pinecrest? We were right there, so close to each other… she thought, her mind spinning.
“Joanna doesn’t know either. She took the clone, and I have no clue what she’s up to. Just remember, if she tries to bring Porter to meet you, don’t let her fool you.” Landon’s voice echoed in her mind.
Amelia struggled to keep her emotions in check, nodding as she took the new fruit fork Landon handed her.

After Kayla processed all this, she switched gears and got down to business. “Hey, sis, the office building will be done with renovations in a few days, so we’ll be heading back to work soon. Make sure you enjoy your vacation while it lasts!”
“Sure! I’ve been off for so long, I actually want to check out what the new office looks like,” Amelia replied.
Landon realized that the Flying Tiger Sect had already started investigating the medical building, and any day now, they’d be breaking into the enemy’s stronghold.

The afternoon sunlight poured into the café, and gentle piano music drifted through the air.
The more beautiful the atmosphere in the café, the more excited they felt inside.

Then she just dragged Amelia straight into the ladies‘ room.
Monroe was about to say something else, but Joanna, who was with her, quickly stopped her. “Mr. Montgomery, this in a public place. Leitze business.”
“Landon, what are you doing here?” Monroe snapped. “Didn’t I tell you to stay home and make things right with Monica?”

“Unrequited love, huh… What, am I just supposed to sit at home and watch them be happy without me…?” Landon sighed, his head hanging low
He let out a low sigh, looking every bit the boken male lead from a melodrama.
Joanna couldn’t help but feel a bit sorry for him. “Mr. Montgomery, just let it go. As long as he’s safe, that’s what matters.”
“You–come with me, now. And don’t even think about sneaking out again,” Monroe snapped.
At Monroe’s command, Landon was escorted away.
Meanwhile, Kayla and Amelia were stuck in the bathroom, both feeling stifled and frustrated.
Kayta was fuming, while Amelia’s heart ached for Landon.
‘Monroe, you damn scumbag! How dare you bully one of the Kingsley men!‘ Amelia cursed inwardly.
“Kayla, don’t be mad. This is just temporary,” Amelia said, trying to calm her down.
“And you shouldn’t be sad either. We’ll bounce back soon,” Amelia added, trying to reassure her.
The two of them hugged, trying to comfort each other, but the more they did, the worse they felt.
‘He’s Landon, the most powerful man in Norava, and now Monroe’s bossing him around like he’s some stray dog or nobody,” Amelia thought, her heart
aching.
“Kayla, don’t you think Joanna seems a little different lately?” Amelia asked.
“Her? I don’t really know her,” Kayla said, shaking her head. “But just judging by the stuff she’s done, she’s pretty nasty.”
“Yeah, exactly! With her temper, she normally wouldn’t have stepped in to help
us out like that,” Amelia agreed.
Kayla went quiet, deep in thought.
Joanna was cold and vicious–she never lifted a finger to help anyone.
But honestly, if Monroe had kept pressing today, no matter how good their disguises were, they probably would’ve slipped up. Joanna real huge favor.

“Let’s reserve judgment on her for now. The top priority is to tell Daniel that your father
still alive!” Kayla said.
