Chapter 326
Amelia had no idea what went down in the middle, but she was sure of one thing having Aiden keep watch over Night Owl while she slept was pist asking for trouble.
If Aiden lost control and tried anything funny, Night Owl would probably kill him on the spot.
And even if he managed to behave himself and just sat there quietly, a half–awake Night Owl still wouldn’t let him off easy.
“What’s got you so worried?” Landon asked, noticing Amelia’s furrowed brow.
Hearing his voice, Aiden nearly jumped out of his skin. “Lan…”
“Landon,” Amelia finished for him, barely holding back a laugh.
“Right, right. But what’s he doing with you?” Aiden’s first thought was that Amelia had gone back to the café.
‘Oh no, she’s going to get caught by Monroe!‘ he thought, panicking.
“He came to the hotel to see me,” Amelia said casually.
“What?” Aiden blurted out. His brain was about to fry.
‘Landon got dragged back from the café by Monroe just a few days ago. How does he even have the guts to show up at the hotel?‘ he wondered.
“Did his mission end?” Aiden asked, still trying to wrap his head around it.
“No, he’s heading back now,” Amelia replied. She let out a lazy yawn, sounding completely satisfied.
That laid–back, contented tone finally made it all click for Aiden.
He was covered in metaphorical sweat, totally speechless. ‘Seriously?‘
‘He risked getting himself killed just to catch some sleep? Landon is even crazier than me!‘ Aiden thought.
“Amelia, are you two completely crazy?” Aiden blurted out.
“Night Owl cleared out just to give us some space,” Amelia replied, totally unfazed.
‘Wait, Night Owl’s in on this too? They’re all nuts!‘ Aiden thought.
“Keep your distance from Night Owl for now. Once she wakes up, just come back yourself. And whatever you do, don’t hang around by her bedside,” Amelia instructed, then hung up the phone.
Landon was already dressed, but he still hugged her waist, reluctant to let go. “Honey…”
“I know we’ve got some time, but better safe than sorry. You should head back,” Amelia said, prying his hands off and pushing him toward the door.
Landon looked aggrieved. “You’re kicking me out?”
“No, that’s not it…”
“Then give me a kiss.”
Amelia sighed helplessly, stood on tiptoe, and brushed a quick kiss across his lips.
She knew better than to linger–her foresight told her to make it a quick, butterfly–light kiss and pull away immediately.

Chapter 326
Landon had actually been hoping to steal a deep kiss, but she was too quick, and he missed his chance
He gazed at her lips with regret.
Her lips were glossy and just a little swollen.
It was because he’d kissed her a little too hard.
“Does it hurt?” Landon reached out and gently touched the corner of her lips.
“No,” Amelia shook her head.
‘It’s just a little swollen from your kisses, that’s all,‘ she thought.
“I wasn’t talking about that,” Landon said, his voice low and teasing.
Amelia was lost for words.
Her face turned bright red as she batted his hand away, hiding her face and spinning around.
‘Seriously, what is with this guy?‘ she grumbled to herself.
“Honey, I’m really worried about you,” Landon murmured, sounding all gentle.
“Oh, now you’re worried? You sure weren’t holding back a minute ago,” Amelia teased.
“You were the one calling out,” Landon said, shamelessly playing innocent.
Amelia’s face was burning hot, and she just couldn’t take it anymore. “Just go already!” she urged, flustered.
Landon couldn’t be more reluctant to leave.
Through countless sleepless nights and endless, lonely afternoons, he’d always wished she could be there with him.
Just holding her–even if they didn’t say a word or do a thing–made him feel like all was right in the world.
“Seriously, you really should head back,” Amelia sighed, turning to face him with a serious look. “I haven’t even told you to quit, and now you’re the one trying to slack off?”
“Do you want me to leave the Flying Tiger Sect?” Landon asked, his tone suddenly serious.
Amelia paused for a moment, then shook her head. “Not right now.”
That scheming Monica was still trying to steal her husband, and without the power of the Flying Tiger Sect, there was no way to deal with the Mystic Sect.
“And what about later?” Landon pressed.
Amelia blinked, her conscience pricking at her as her yoice grew small. “Let’s just talk about that when the time comes, okay?”
Landon smiled.
‘See? She really does want me to quit,‘ he thought.
These past two years, tagging along with him, had honestly been pretty exhausting for her.
Once this was all over, he’d go hand in his resignation to his master.
“Make sure you eat well and get some rest. I’m off,” Landon said.
Chapter 326
“Okay,” Amelia replied softly.
Landon gave her hair one last gentle ruffle before heading out of the room.
To avoid any trouble, Amelia didn’t walk him downstairs.
She threw herself onto the bed they’d just shared, her eyes filling with tears of longing.
“Honey, I just want to go home with you… Kimsey misses us too…” she whispered softly.
The city was alive with the glow of neon lights and the hum of traffic under the night sky.
Landon sat in the taxi, his eyes fixed on the building across the street–the one shaped like a door.
The deep blue ring around the building looked even more striking under the city lights.
If only there were a small diagonal stroke above the empty spot in the lights, it would look exactly like a door
‘Who knows what kind of secrets are hidden behind the facade of that so–called medical device company? Landon thought, his heart pounding with curiosity.
His heart was itching with curiosity.
The taxi stopped at a red light, and a couple on the sidewalk caught Landon’s attention.
‘Wait, is that Joanna and Clone Porter?‘ he wondered.
Joanna was nothing like her usual cold–blooded self. Dressed in a pale yellow dress, she looked so gentle and girly.
She was half leaning against Clone Porter, smiling sweetly as she chatted with him, clinging to him like a little bird.
Clone Porter barely showed any emotion, just listening quietly.
Suddenly, Landon couldn’t help but wonder, ‘Do clones think like regular people? Without the original’s memories, could he actually fall for Joanna?”
The light turned green, and the taxi started moving again.
Landon looked away.
When he got back to the Montgomery’s house, everyone was still fast asleep.
With no cameras around, Landon was totally at ease.
He glanced around–everything was just as he’d left it. ‘Paul really had things under control–he made sure Monica stayed put in her room!” he thought.
He just sprawled out on the floor, waiting for the time to come so he could wake up with everyone else.
After being apart for a few days, finally getting to kiss and hug his wife again left Landon feeling completely satisfied. Pretending to sleep, he ended up actually drifting off into dreamland.
In the RV parked in the hotel’s lot, Night Owl slowly opened her eyes.
As soon as she realized she was somewhere unfamiliar, she bolted upright, instantly on guard.
Aiden sat at a small dining table a couple of feet away–he’d listened to Amelia and kept his distance. “You’re awake?”
“Why did you bring me here?” Night Owl demanded, her face instantly darkening.
Chapter 326
As expected, her first reaction was to quickly glance down and check if her clothes were still in place,
Aiden thought, ‘Thank goodness I listened to Amelia!‘
“Night Owl, what do you think I am? I just saw you sleeping all twisted up on that hotel sofa, so I had someone bring over an RV for you! Kami end, sounding a bit exasperated.
‘I might be nuts, but I’m not some creep!‘ he thought.
Back when he was head over heels for Amelia, he never actually did anything out of line.
Night Owl stared Aiden down, only getting up once she was sure he wasn’t lying. “I just don’t get you bossy CEO types, Wouldn’t it have been easier to just get me a room?”
“You’re sharing a room with Amelia. It didn’t really seem appropriate for me to go knocking,” Aiden replied.
Suddenly, a lightbulb went off in Night Owl’s head–Landon and Amelia were in that room together! ‘Good thing Aiden didn’t go knocking she thought, now fully awake.
Those two finally had a chance to be together; she couldn’t bring herself to interrupt.
‘It is already dark out–those two have probably had enough time together by now, right?‘ Night Owl guessed to herself.
The streetlights streamed through the RV’s windows, outlining her profile and making her look even more slender and fragile.
Aiden’s heart twisted with pain, and he couldn’t help but bring her a bowl of apple pie. “You must be hungry. Here, have a little snack before dinner.
Night Owl frowned and sniffed the air.
Sure enough, the scent of food lingered in the RV.
She wrinkled her nose. “I don’t really feel like eating takeout.”
“It’s not takeout,” Aiden said.
“So what is it then?” Night Owl asked, curious.
“I made dinner while you were out,” Aiden replied.
