“Don’t worry about anything, Kayla. We’re the ones who have true love,” Amelia said, handing Kimsey over to Kayla with capust
ease.
She shook out her arms, stretching them. “The little brat keeps getting heavier. My arms are sore! Kayla, was it the same when you had to carry Landen?”
Kayla chuckled. “Absolutely. I could probably do bicep curls now.”
Amelia pouted, “Your brother keeps asking me to have another baby, but I told him no way. Giving birth is like knocking on deathy’s door. Once is more than enough for me.”
Kayla knew exactly what she meant: with Landen around, there was no need for another child..
‘That’s certainly a unique way to comfort me,‘ Kayla thought.
Kayla teased Kimsey and said, “Honestly, it doesn’t matter. If I can have another, great. If not, Tuff doesn’t mind.”
“Yeah, I don’t mind,” Tuff said, sounding like he’d said it a hundred times already.
‘Man, these women are always stirring things up and putting me on the spot,‘ Tuff thought, feeling like he was always getting roasted.
“I’ve made arrangements with Giovanna to get my face treated,” Kayla said as she teased Kimsey. “The kid’s got guts. He’s not even fazed by me looking like this.”
Kimsey giggled, reaching out his little hand, trying to touch Kayla’s scars.
Kayla instinctively pulled back, not letting him touch them.
Kimsey looked a little disappointed.
“He’s not just unafraid. He’s downright curious!” Amelia said with a laugh.
The adults all laughed, just chalking it up to Kimsey being a curious kid.
Kayla pinched his cheek gently and said, “You’re so brave, Kimsey. You’re going to be something special when you grow up. Make sure you look out for me, alright?”
Kimsey gave a solemn little nod.
“Oh man, he’s got that old–soul vibe like Landon did when he was a kid!” Kayla joked, laughing again.
The adults burst into laughter again, their voices spilling out the windows and drifting through the whole courtyard.
Emma, who had seen Kayla’s sharp tongue in action today, was in the kitchen gossiping. “Mrs. Kingsley is something! She put Mrs. Prescott in her place so fast. Mrs. Prescott tried to play the victim, but Mrs. Kingsley was one step ahead.”
“Wow, that’s impressive! There’s someone in this family who can put Mrs. Prescott in her place!” another servant said.
“Exactly! You all better watch your step. Don’t cross her,” Emma warned.
“She can’t even have kids. She’s enjoying the boss’s attention for now. Give it a few years, and she won’t be so high and mighty!”

another servant scoffed.
“The Kingsley family had people over today. You know who’s got their back?” Emma gossiped.
“Who?” someone asked.
“The Hughes family and the Zuckerberg family! All heavy in–laws!” Emma replied, eyes wide.
“With that kind of backing, the Prescott family can only lie low!” another servant chimed in.
“Yeah. Be smart. Don’t bring up the whole having–kids thing in front of her from now on,” Emma warned.
“Yeah, we get it…” everyone chimed in.
Amelia and Landon showing up in the city had the Prescott family sweating bullets.
Lily, the family’s drama queen, was suddenly silent.
The whole Prescott family was on their best behavior. Not a single soul dared to badmouth Kayla anymore.
Kayla was pretty pleased.
Having her family backing her up changed the game.
It was nothing like those years she’d spent trapped in the Kyle family, amnesiac and at everyone’s mercy.
Amelia spent that night at the Prescott family’s house with her child.
Landon used the opportunity to return to the Flying Tiger Sect and meet Larry, his master, in person.
“You’re here. Where’s Joanna?” said Larry, who was casually making coffee, like it was another day.
The steam swirling around him made his white hair and beard look almost ethereal, like some wise old master straight out of a
story.
Landon turned off the coffee maker. “Coffee at night will keep you up, you know.”
“I’m getting old. I barely got a few hours of sleep anyway,” Larry replied, smiling as he glanced over at Landon.
Landon was his star pupil, the strongest in the Flying Tiger Sect. If Landon weren’t so determined to step down, Larry would’ve seriously considered passing the reins of the sect to him.
“Mr. Mitchell, I’m here to get my resignation signed,” Landon said, getting straight to the point. “As for Joanna, she’s hiding so well, we can’t do a thing about it.”
“Oh? Even Mr. Zuckerberg can’t do anything?” Larry raised an eyebrow, clearly skeptical.
“That’s right,” Landon nodded.
Landon looked directly at Larry with a clear conscience.
They stared each other down, while Tuff stood off to the side. He was so nervous that he didn’t dare say a word, trying his best to be invisible.

“Finish this mission, then I’ll sign your resignation,” Larry said, his tone calm but firm.
Tuff frowned.
Landon’s face clearly showed his displeasure. “Mr. Mitchell, you’re making things difficult for me.”
“Landon, this is a task from the organization,” Larry said, stroking his beard. “I know it’s hard, but the good of the country comes before everything.”
“Isn’t Monroe here? Ask him,” Landon said.
At the mention of Monroe, Larry looked even more helpless. “If we could get anything out of him, would we even need you?”
“Try threatening him with Monica. He’ll crack for sure,” Landon said, his tone firm.
“We already tried. Didn’t work,” Larry replied, shaking his head.
“Then you guys didn’t push hard enough!” Landon snorted. “Where are they? I’ll handle it myself.”
Larry raised a hand, signaling Landon to chill out. Stroking his beard, he said slowly, “Actually, Monroe added a condition.”
“What condition?” Landon asked, his voice tense.
“He says he’ll turn over all the tech if you agree to marry Monica.”
“That’s out of the question!” Landon exploded, his anger boiling over. ‘The people of the Montgomery family are insane. They’re still hung up on me!‘ he thought, his fists clenched.
“Wait, Monica’s love spell is broken?” Tuff cut in, his brow furrowed.
Larry nodded. “Yes.”
“Who broke it?” Tuff demanded angrily.
Monica was obsessed with love, latching onto anyone she met.
It had taken so much effort to get her to cling to Paul, so how could someone break the spell now?
“When we picked her up, she was already back to normal. And she’s pregnant. Our principle is not to harm the pregnant woman,” Larry explained.
“So you’d rather throw your student under the bus instead?” Tuff sneered. “That’s some twisted logic you’ve got there, Mr. Mitchell.”
Larry’s face darkened, and he snapped, “Tuff!”
“Mr. Mitchell, I know I’m out of line. Come on, Landon is your student and has done so much for the organization. You know it better than anyone. Ever since he was left incapacitated, he hasn’t had a single peaceful day. Can’t you show him a little mercy for once and let him off the hook?” Tuff said, his voice thick with frustration.
There was a storm brewing in Larry’s eyes, and he said nothing for a long moment.
Finally, when the air in the coffee room felt thick enough to cut, Larry let out a sigh, saying, “I know you all resent me, but I’ve been doing everything I can to protect you.”
Chapter 357
Landon was stunned, his eyes turning razor–sharp in an instant. “Mr. Mitchell?”
“Come on, let me show you,” Larry said, leading the way.
The research department was a key division of the Flying Tiger Sect, and it had relocated to the Project Azureveil facility.
Back then, they even pulled a fast one on the Meyers family using the project.
However, Landon hadn’t set foot in there again after it was completed.
Stepping inside today, Landon was hit by a wave of unfamiliarity and awe.
“Mr. Mitchell, Mr. Kingsley!” The researchers all greeted them with respect.
Larry glanced at Landon. “Been a while since you got this kind of attention, Landon?”
“I get that every day at the office,” Landon replied, sounding completely unfazed.
He wasn’t a kid chasing glory anymore. These days, all he wanted was a simple, content life.
“You’ve gotten less ambitious since you got married,” Larry remarked.
“It’s not that. When I was in a coma after the car accident, it made me rethink a lot,” Landon replied.
Larry’s expression grew complicated. “Landon, are you blaming me?”
“No. You didn’t even know about the accident back then,” Landon replied, keeping his voice calm.
On the surface, Landon stayed cool and collected, but he couldn’t help feeling a little uneasy about it inwardly.
His life was hanging by a thread back then.
His mother had to shoulder all the pressure to protect him alone, but she was powerless to save him.
Henry’s family was scheming behind the scenes, hoping Landon’d die so they could snatch up everything for themselves.
Did anyone step in to help him?
Not a soul.
Landon had been abandoned by the whole world.
If Amelia hadn’t suddenly appeared and helped pull him back from the brink, he probably wouldn’t even be alive now.
It wasn’t that he blamed the sect. What he needed emotionally had simply changed.
The life of blood and battle wasn’t for him anymore. All he wanted now was a quiet life with his family.
Let the passion for youngsters.
“Landon, back then, l…” Larry began, but his words trailed off.

Larry was still trying to explain, but Landon had already zeroed in on Monica and was striding straight toward her,
