“Dad, did you go after Jonathan for me? Look at the state I’m in. You’ve got to stand up for me and get revenge!” Yalena demanded.
“You really have the nerve to say that! Tell me, why did you go and mess with a pregnant woman who was about to give birth?” Eason shot back.
Valena let out a mocking laugh. “Why can’t I mess with her? Jonathan screwed over the Kelly family. He promised to marry me, but he got back with his ex–wife. Why shouldn’t I get revenge on them?”
“I told you, if you want to go after Jonathan, fine. Or at least wait until his wife has had the baby. She’s a pregnant woman. I’ve told you so many times not to kick people when they’re down!” Eason
snapped.
“So what if she’s pregnant? She deserves to die,” Yalena spat.
Eason was stunned, his eyes going wide in shock. He couldn’t believe those words had actually come out of his daughter’s mouth.
Especially the way Yalena’s eyes were so cold and heartless, like she didn’t care about anyone’s life at all, as if she was actually hoping Teresa would lose the baby right then and there.
“How did I raise you? You don’t even have the most basic respect for life anymore. How could you come back from Mianara and turn into someone like this? Are you really still my daughter?” Eason
shouted.
If Yalena hadn’t been hurt, Eason would’ve really wanted to slap her across the face.
Faced with Eason’s anger, Yalena rolled her eyes and muttered under her breath, “If I’m not your daughter, then who am I? You old bastard, are you done yet?”
Eason’s eyes widened. “What did you just say?”
“Nothing Valena shrugged, acting all nonchalant.
She tried to play it off like it was nothing, but Eason could still catch what she said. She’d called him an old bastard. His mind was in turmoil. His daughter had never talked to him like that before. She’d changed beyond recognition.
He was determined to get that DNA test done, no matter what. He just couldn’t believe the girl in front of him was really his own flesh and blood

Teresa’s condition.
Eason made a call, and his secretary came over. “Mr. Kelly, you called for me?”
“Good, you’re here,” Eason said, handing him a sealed bag. “This is blood from Yalena and me. Take it to the DNA test center and have them rush the results. I want to know as soon as possible.”
“Yes, sir.”
That night, Benny reached out to Jonathan. The second injury report for Teresa’s brother came back.
It was exactly the same as the first one.
Lucas was now in the hospital, under protection as the victim. Since Benny wasn’t family, there was
no way for him to visit Lucas for now.
Benny asked Jonathan, his voice low with concern, “What about Teresa? Has she woken up yet?”
Jonathan could only stand outside, watching Teresa through the glass window as Miriam kept her company at her bedside. Miriam refused to let him anywhere near Teresa.
He shook his head slightly, worry clouding his face. “Not yet,” Jonathan replied, his heart heavy.
Benny let out a sigh. “Don’t worry too much. I’m sure Teresa will wake up soon.”
Jonathan nodded. Right now, all he wanted were three things: for Teresa and the baby to be safe, for Teresa’s brother to pull through unharmed, and for Yalena to end up behind bars as soon as possible.
Only if Yalena rotted in prison for the rest of her life or got the death penalty would Jonathan ever feel any peace inside.
Benny added, “I’ll stay here in Nareigh. If anything happens, I’ll let you know right away.”
“Sure,” Jonathan replied.
Not long after they hung up, a doctor hurried over to Jonathan, looking anxious. “Mr. Lynn, your wife is a
