Ergot was used to being flattered and deferred to. But no one had ever dared to humiliate him like this. Skylar’s abrupt exit was nothing short of a slap in the face. He was furious, but the Lambert heiress wasn’t someone he could afford to cross.
Unable to take it out on her, he could only turn his wrath on the bystanders. “Ms. Lin, what are you standing there for? Don’t you know it’s your job to pour drinks for your seniors? Can’t you even follow this basic rule?” Ergot snapped, his
tone full of disdain.
Katie forced herself to stay upright and replied, “Sorry, I’ll pour drinks for everyone right away.”
Blinking to clear her swimming vision, she first poured a drink for Ergot, who sat at the head of the table. She was so drunk that everything was a blur; she didn’t even realize when the wine spilled over.
The wine overflowed, and she was completely oblivious.
Ergot slapped her hard across the face and roared, “Useless trash!”
Already unsteady from all the alcohol, Katie toppled to the floor from the force of the blow. She tried to get up, but her body was limp and refused to cooperate.
Ergot spat on her in disgust. “Worthless. Can’t even pour a damn drink properly!”
“Someone, throw this disgrace out!” Ergot shouted toward the door, ordering the waiter who had just entered.
The waiter hauled Katie up unceremoniously and dumped her at the hotel entrance. People were coming and going, and Katie could feel all their eyes on her.
Humiliation and anger burned through her drunken haze, sobering her up almost instantly. She quickly pulled out her phone and called the family chauffeur to pick her up.
As soon as she got home, she took a shower, swallowed some hangover remedy, and only started to feel better after resting for a while. The first thing Katie did after sobering up was to look for Jamar,
Jamar, thinking she was bringing good news, came over with a big grin. But before he could say a word, two sharp slaps landed across his face.
Clutching his cheek, Jamar looked aggrieved. “Wanwan, why did you hit me?”
Katie trembled with rage. “You miserable trash, did you play me for a fool on purpose?”
“Wanwan, what are you talking about? How could I possibly set you up?” Jamar protested, tears in his eyes. “I’m yours! We rise and fall together. What good would it do me to hurt you?”
Her nails dug into his flesh as she weighed his words. Katie paused, realizing he had a point. She forced herself to calm

She’d only agreed to help him before because he pleased her, but because of him, she’d been humiliated to an extreme
extent. She was furious.
Katie never liked to swallow her anger. If she couldn’t touch Skylar, she could at least deal with the pretty boy in front of
her.
A cruel smile twisted her lips as she signaled the servants she’d arranged beforehand. “Thrash him mercilessly. Don’t stop until my anger subsides!”
Jamar was stunned, staring blankly at Katie. “Wanwan, what are you…”
The servants brought heavy rods down on him, and the pain made him howl. “Wanwan, I don’t know who she is, and I
never tried to use you. Please, let me go!
