Minnie quietly slipped away while no one was paying attention. She called her contact. “I’m afraid it won’t be so easy to get that acquisition list this time.
“She said she’ll handle the negotiation process personally. With my junior position, how am I supposed to get anywhere near her?”
The person threatened, “I don’t care how you do it. Just get me that acquisition list. Or you’ll return every damn penny I
gave you!”
Minnie gripped her phone, gritting her teeth. Her fear came true. ‘Shit! I’ve already blown all that money. Where the hell am I supposed to get the funds to pay that bastard back?‘

The voice on the other end knew she couldn’t repay and adopted a less aggressive tone. “Do you know where she kept the
list?”
“It’s in her office. But there’s no way I can get in!”
“Oh, I know you can pull this off.”
Minnie scoffed. “Don’t you realize that if I do this, I’ll blow my cover?”
“Don’t worry. If things go south, I can cover for you. I can even throw a bonus to sweeten the deal.”
Minnie was just a struggling fresh graduate. She could not possibly resist such a tempting offer. After a brief hesitation, she replied in a low voice, “You’d better keep your word. If I go down, you’re coming with me!”
“Of course! Don’t worry about anything. I promise you’ll be perfectly safe,” the person assured her.
With that assurance, Minnie felt the knot of anxiety in her chest had finally loosened. She hung up the phone and returned to her workstation, her mind racing. ‘How can I get that list without anyone noticing?‘ she wondered anxiously, trying to
come up with a plan.
She brought some snacks and deliberately tried to cozy up to the assistant secretaries in the executive office. “These are some treats from our acquisition team,” Minnie said with a smile. “Please help yourselves. Don’t stand on ceremony!”
“Oh, what’s the occasion, Minnie?”
“Yeah, we haven’t done anything to earn this kindness!”
Minnie smiled warmly and said, “You all work so hard supporting Ms. Lambert and still have to clean up our team’s messes. We appreciate it and feel a bit guilty for troubling you.”
Minnie smiled and insisted, “Please, take them all. If you don’t, our team will feel bad about it.”
With Minnie putting it that way, the assistant secretaries could no longer refuse. The group divided up the treats she had brought among themselves,

that true?”
“That’s right, Minnie.”
Minnie sighed, “Ah, it’s all our fault for not handling things properly. Otherwise, Ms. Lambert wouldn’t have needed to step
in.”
Audra, having just accepted their gifts and owing her a favor, naturally took their side. “This failure was all because of sabotage from within. It wasn’t your fault.”
Minnie’s heart skipped a beat, and she became increasingly anxious. ‘She knows there’s a mole in the company?
‘Then will my plan still work?‘ Minnie started to doubt herself. In that split second, a thousand anxious thoughts raced through her mind.
“Don’t overthink it. Just focus on preparing for the next acquisition round. With Ms. Lambert leading this one, it should go smoothly.”
Minnie gave a stiff nod. “By the way, what time does Ms. Lambert usually leave the office?”
Audra looked puzzled. “That’s unusual. Why do you ask?”
“Well, my supervisor wants to wait until Ms. Lambert gets off work and treats her to dinner.”
“Ms. Lambert usually leaves by 7 PM, though on busy days, she might stay as late as 10 PM.”
“I see. Thanks, Audra.”
“No problem.”
“Now that I know her office hours, this should be a piece of cake,‘ Minnie thought with a sly smile. She spent the entire afternoon at her desk, fidgeting like she had nothing better to do.
‘Gosh, every second felt like an eternity!‘ Minnie thought anxiously, her eyes darting to the clock on her computer screen every few moments.
Shit. My heart keeps pounding harder with each passing minute!‘ Minnie thought anxiously. After all, this was the first time she’d ever tried something so risky.
Eventually, Skylar left work. Minnie found a janitor’s uniform and changed into it, disguising herself as a cleaning lady. Under the pretext of cleaning she slipped into Skular’s office
