Chapter 42
PRIMUS ALEXANDER’S POV
“You’re lucky I don’t hit women,” I growled at Gaia. “You have no idea how hard it is to suppress this urge.”
I stood at the head of the gathering with Levi and Aaron by my sides but my focus was on Gaia.
She stood in the middle of the hall, her hands bound by chains, looking like a mess. A bitter mess with no hint of remorse
whatsoever.
Not that it would save her, anyway.
The Order sat in a circle around her. Some had the look of disapproval with some had anger. But I knew it was only because their precious alliance was on the line and it was only a matter of time before it crumbled.
Yet, after everything that happened last night, they still had the audacity to request a trial for Gaia.
How pathetic.
“I didn’t do anything to her!” Gaia screamed, struggling against the chains. “I was only defending myself.”
Defending herself? Against Aquamarine?
My beast raged within me but I had to bite my tongue so hard I tasted blood. Gaia was making it soo hard for me to keep
calm.
Soo fucking hard.
Hot air escaped from my lips as I shut my eyes. My mind went to Aquamarine’s bruised skin and sorrowful eyes.
“Get Gaia out of here, Levi,” I growled, my voice low and deadly.
But Gaia refused to back down. “No! I still have 1 week left to stay here and you can’t break the pact we have,” she raged.
“You know the consequences.”
“I don’t give a damn about the consequences!” I roared, my eyes snapping open as I glared at her. “Do your worst, Gaia. But if I sniff you in my kingdom in the next 30 minutes, there will be blood and not just yours.”
Just as it seemed like things would escalate further, a voice intervened. “Primus Alexander, let’s all settle down and figure
out the reason for the attack.” I searched for the owner of the voice and found Derek.
“Reason?” I repeated, unable to understand the rubbish that just escaped his lips. “A reason why she buried your Luna six feet under?” I scowled at him.
Derek’s expression remained calm. “We need to know what really happened Last night. We need proof that Luna Aquamarine didn’t start this. I mean, some say they’ve seen her volatile before.”
Some nodded in agreement and I glanced at Levi, who gave me a nod
“Then we will go by the books.” I nodded.

If that’s what they want, then that is what they will get.
“Okay, Gaia, defend yourself,” I said, my voice firm as I adjusted myself in my chair, my eyes fixed intently on hers.
The room fell silent, awaiting her response.
Gaia took a deep breath, her eyes darting between me and the Order, before she began to speak. “She called me out yesterday evening. I guess she was still mad that I beat her in her fight days ago.” I watched how some of the audience
nodded, falling for her white lies.
To think they believed her was a huge slap on my face.
“But she only did that because she wanted revenge,” Gaia continued, pretending to shiver as she turned her gaze to me. “She threatened me to leave the pack but when I refused, she started attacking me. You can see the bruises on my body. I tried to fight back, but I couldn’t.”
“So you’re saying that you didn’t hurt her?” I asked, my tone incredulous.
“I didn’t even touch her,” Gaia replied, her voice rising. “I wasn’t able to do anything because of the bracelets.”
“So tell us how you were able to seal Aquamarine inside a tree when you had the bracelets on,” I demanded, my eyes
narrowing.
“While trying to stab me, her dagger broke them apart,” Gaia said, her voice filled with indignation. “Only a witch’s power can do that. You’re trying to get rid of me because of dark magic, yet you’re harbouring a pretentious witch as your Luna!”
“That bracelet does more than suppress your powers, Gaia,” I said, a hint of a smile playing on my lips.
I snapped my fingers, and the windows shut immediately. The room went dark and the only light came from green lines emanating from the middle of the hall.
“It’s a counter–attack bracelet, and to make it even better, all the hits you gave Aquamarine are currently glowing on your skin. Green and plenty.” I finished.
Gaia’s eyes widened as she stumbled backwards, her hands roaming over the green lines on her body. “What’s this?” she
stammered.
I remembered the number of green marks I’d seen on Aquamarine’s body as she healed, and I felt myself going hostile again. “While the ones she gave you are gold,” I continued, my voice dripping with sarcasm. “Yet, I can barely see 5.”
“This is false” Gaia exclaimed, her voice rising in desperation. “These lines don’t prove anything!
“That concludes everything, Gaia. We go by the books here. I warned you about dark magic, you’re not a visitor here. “I said, my tone final
I turned to Levi, my eyes locking onto his unique mismatched eyes that were already glowing in the dark. “Levi, begin.”
The room erupted into murmurs, followed by groans and screams. When the windows opened again, the screams grew louder, echoing through the hall. The heads of all those who nodded in support of Gaia rolled on the floor, their lifeless eyes staring up at the ceiling

The silence that followed was deafening, punctuated only by the sound of Gaia’s ragged breathing. She opened her mouth
to speak, but I stopped her.
“I don’t want to hear another word, from any of you.” My eyes locked onto Aaron. “Aaron, I don’t care what you do to her, but make sure she experiences the same thing our Luna did before she dies.”
I turned to the rest of the Elders, their faces horror–stricken. “Understood?” The room fell silent, and I knew they had
gotten the memo.
I walked away, Gaia’s shouts echoing in my ears.
I was a fool for listening to The Order when they convinced me to leave Gaia after the coronation. That decision cost me Aquamarine’s life.
My mate. My Luna.
But not anymore. Not now, not ever.
I walked past numerous doors, maids and guards bowing down as they saw me. But when I reached the front of my chamber door, I stopped.
I dreaded this moment.
I remembered the sad and scared look on her face this afternoon when I told her I’d be back in 5 minutes. How she
pleaded with her eyes as I pulled away from her.
Yet, I’m sure I spent about 30 minutes with those dumb baboons.
I released a breath and went inside, hoping at least, she wouldn’t be shivering all over again.
But fortunately, Aquamarine was still awake.
Still naked as a newborn on the bed. Her fingers were tracing the pendant, her mind seemingly elsewhere. I allowed her to continue for a while I went over to the edge of the bed and removed my robe.
She still needed my heat and I was more than willing to share it with her.
And as if sensing my presence, her eyes drifted in my direction. I stood frozen, unsure of what to do or say to her. Our eyes -locked for a moment, and everything else faded away.
Her eyes were still tired, very much tired, but her scars had cleared up. She sat up and began crawling up to me like she had been waiting for me for days
1 felt a sting in my chew as her previous warnings about Gaia echoed in my mind.
How would Hook her in the eye like I used to? She even trusted me when I promised her that Gala wouldn’t kill her.
I haven’t felt this guilty in years before either.
I climbed the bed and pulled her naked body closer to mine. Her skin was still icy cold, like she was still dipped inside
water.

She cuddled against me, melting into my arms as I released my heat. We stayed like this for a moment but the silence was
killing me.
Eating me up soo bad that I felt like giving her the opportunity to stab me for fucking up.
I hated it. This feeling.
“Gaia will be killed for treason,” I said, trying to fill the silence. But I wanted to say more, to do more.
“Don’t do it,” she whispered, her voice barely audible.
“Why?” I asked, my curiosity piqued.
“Because she’s not stable. You know what she can do; I’ve seen what she can do,” Aquamarine replied, her eyes filled with concern. “What if her kingdom decides to attack?”
“I’m more than ready for it,” I said, my voice firm. “She should have known this before attacking you.” I stared at her innocent white eyes again.
But all I saw was pain and uncertainty. I stroked her cheek and traced the curve of her lip. I leaned in to kiss her forehead,
but I stopped the moment those words came out of her mouth.
“But won’t you still let her in after you’re done with me?” Aquamarine’s question caught me off guard. “After I give you an heir, won’t you send me away? Back to my old pack or wherever your other girls are?”
