Chapter 7
Alexander scooped up Shirley, who was trembling uncontrollably. Passing Shirley, he shot her a cold glare.
“Take a good look at how real lunatics live. When you finally come to your senses, I’ll bring you home.”
Rita’s lips twisted faintly, her voice barely audible: “Alexander, you’re the one who’s lost his mind.”
Alexander paused mid–step but ultimately walked away without looking back.
Rita peeked out from his arms, casting a triumphant, mocking glance at her.
Rita had been knocked unconscious before being taken away.
When she woke again, she found herself strapped to a metal electroshock chair.
She instinctively struggled.
Without warning, electric currents surged through her, making her convulse uncontrollably.
Waves of agony and terror drowned her consciousness, blurring her vision.
Her head fell heavily.
Sweat rolled down her temples, dripping onto the icy treatment table.
Before losing consciousness completely, Rita was thrown into a sealed dark cell.
From then on, electroshocks, beatings, and confinement became daily routines.
At first, she tracked time by meal deliveries, fighting to stay lucid.
Later, they locked her with various psychiatric patients, tormenting her into delirium.
Huddled in a bed corner, days of physical and mental torture left her utterly exhausted.
Finally, she succumbed to fatigue and fell into deep sleep.
Half–asleep, hot, foul breath crept along her neck.
She jolted awake.
Meeting a middle–aged man’s vacant stare, Rita screamed instinctively, thrashing wildly.
The man showed no fear, groping her body more brazenly,
Rita cried in terror: “I want to see Alexander! I admit I was wrong! Let me see Alexander!”

Chapter 7
A sharp smack snapped her head sideways.
Ignoring blood trickling from her lips, she struggled desperately.
Amid chaos, Rita grabbed a water cup from the nightstand and smashed it against the man’s head.
Warm blood dripped from his temple onto her face.
He collapsed, briefly stunned.
Rita frantically shoved him away, heaving the nightstand at the door lock.
As the lock shattered, she bolted toward the exit.
The main door loomed just ahead.
Nguyenddenly, burly men barged in, swarming her and pinning her to the floor.
Gasping for air, Rita felt despair consume her.
Then white nurse’s shoes appeared in her vision.
Her gaze traveled upward to the fired nurse.
Clutching the nurse’s pant leg like a lifeline, Rita pleaded: “Help me!”
