The knocking grew more urgent, but the door wouldn’t budge–it had been locked from the inside.
“Alan! Alan? Are you okay, Alan?”
Summer was pounding on the door with all her strength, her voice full of concern and even laced with a hint of sobbing, like Alan had dropped dead inside the room.
Claudia could’ve given her an Oscar for that performance.
Alan glanced down at the woman in his arms, his brows furrowed. Hearing Summer about to burst into tears outside, he finally let go.
“I’ll step out for a moment. But divorce? That’s not happening. Get that out of your head.”
With that, he got up and strode toward the door.
As soon as the door opened, Summer, who had been hammering at it nonstop, tried to charge in–only for Alan to block her path.
Still, she managed to catch a glimpse of Claudia, half–reclined on the sofa, her dress in disarray.

“Alan, you said you were just going to the restroom and never came back. I thought something happened, so I asked the waiter. That’s when I found out you were in here. I’m just glad you’re okay.”
Summer tore her gaze away from the room and grabbed Alan’s hands with a worried look. Her eyes flicked down, spotting the small cut on his lip. Her expression froze for a second before she lowered her head to hide the flicker of resentment in her eyes.
That damn Claudia. Every time she shows up, something goes wrong. She just can’t stop clinging to Alan.
Hasn’t she noticed how much Alan despises her?
Seven years of marriage and she still couldn’t win Alan’s heart. No self–awareness whatsoever. Not only does she refuse to walk away, she keeps ruining everything.
Summer had finally convinced Alan to return to the main hall–then he vanished halfway

through. And now he was in here with Claudia.

Claudia looked at the two practically glued together in the doorway and chuckled. “Ms. Summer, didn’t you twist your ankle? You seem pretty agile.”
Alan frowned slightly. “Summer, your foot…”
.“Oh, I didn’t even notice.” Summer swayed a little and clung tightly to Alan’s hand for
support, face contorted in pain. “You didn’t come back and I was so worried something had happened… I rushed over and didn’t pay attention. Now it hurts even more.”
Claudia was thoroughly entertained and gave a slow thumbs–up. “Ms. Summer, you’re tougher than you look.”
Summer, half–draped over Alan in her pain, looked even more pitiful at Claudia’s remark. “Alan…”
Alan shot Claudia a glare. “Can you not?”
Then he turned back to Summer, his voice softening. “Let me take you to another room so you can rest. I’ll have someone take you home.
“It’s fine. I can rest here.”
Summer had no intention of leaving. She tried to step inside, but couldn’t move.
Alan had a firm grip on her, keeping her rooted to the spot. He frowned. “You’re hurt. I’ll have someone take you home right now.”
Summer bit her lip, her eyes brimming with tears. “Alan, we agreed you’d come home with me tonight.”
Claudia hadn’t expected her to say it so bluntly–she’d really underestimated Summer.
Alan’s face instantly darkened.
“Wait here. I’ll have Nathan take you home,” he said to Claudia before walking off with Summer in tow.
Of course Claudia wasn’t about to wait around. She got up from the couch, smoothed out her dress, and headed for the door.
But when she reached it, the doorknob wouldn’t turn–her face sank.

She hadn’t expected Alan to actually lock her in the lounge. What the hell was wrong with him?
“Ma’am, sir asked me to take you home.”
Not long after, Nathan appeared at the door in a sharp suit.
Claudia didn’t bother responding. The moment the door opened, she stepped forward to leave–but Nathan blocked her, his tall frame filling the doorway.
Claudia gave him a cold stare. “Assistant Long, what’s the meaning of this?”
“Sir told me to personally see you home. Please don’t make this difficult.”
Nathan’s indifferent gaze swept over Claudia’s slim figure accentuated by her shifted away. His reply was mechanical, his expression cold and unreadable.
“No need. I have my own home.”
gown, then
Claudia wasn’t about to follow Nathan anywhere. She’d already made up her mind to divorce Alan, and she sure as hell wasn’t going back to their place in the Garden.
“Move.”
Nathan didn’t budge.
Raised under the Moore family’s patronage, Nathan had been thoroughly trained. The fact that he remained by Alan’s side meant he’d likely been through military training or had real combat experience. Just standing there, he was like a solid iron wall–Claudia wasn’t about to push past him.
She hadn’t forgotten the lesson from last time when her phone had been wiped clean. She wasn’t about to waste energy again on something so pointless.
She pulled out her phone to call Alan–but he didn’t answer.
“Are you going to move or not?”
Claudia gripped her phone tightly. Seeing Nathan still standing firm, her eyes grew colder, her tone sharper. “You really are the Moore family’s loyal dog, huh.”
Nathan’s expression didn’t change. “Please return to the Moore family home with me, ma’am.”
