Aaron might not understand why, but she knew. She was just a pawn being used to spite Yosef. To the main branch of the Campbell family, she was just a tool, a disposable pawn to help them overthrow Yosef. They didn’t even see her as a human.
‘If I weren’t still dependent on them right now, I would’ve turned against the Campbell family long ago,‘ Elianna thought.
‘One day, when I finally turned the tables,‘ Elianna vowed to herself, ‘I’ll make those Campbells from the main branch pay dearly for this.”
Although Aaron spared Elianna from repaying the debt, she still had to find a way to recover the money. She desperately needed money.
Elianna ended up selling off all her novel rights at rock–bottom prices, leaving the entire process in her lawyer’s hands.
As soon as Skylar learned Elianna was selling the copyrights, she immediately sent Leon with a lawyer to snap them up. Leon persistently drove a hard bargain, refusing to pay more than half the asking price for the copyrights.
However, Elianna refused, her face flushing with anger. “I refuse to believe there isn’t a buyer willing to pay top dollar!
“Find someone else!” Elianna ordered her lawyer, her jaw clenched in defiance. For some reason, she couldn’t find a single buyer for the copyrights.
The lawyer sighed helplessly and told Elianna, “Ms. Stone, I’m sorry, but there just aren’t any buyers.”
Elianna’s eyes flashed with disbelief. “That’s impossible! Sure, some of these are trash novels that can’t be adapted, but there are some real gems here. With the right work, they could become blockbusters. How could no one want to buy them?”
The lawyer sighed. “But Ms. Stone, you insist on bundling those subpar works. No investor would agree to lose money like this.”
Elianna still refused to lower the price. “I’ve invested a fortune, nearly got beaten to death by Aaron, and now I can’t even recoup 80% of what I spent? This is unacceptable!” she fumed.
The lawyer was at his wits‘ end as Elianna stubbornly refused to budge. “Ms. Stone, if you continue like this, I’m afraid I can no longer represent you. Perhaps it’s best if you find someone else to handle your case.”
Seeing the lawyer about to leave, Elianna panicked and shouted, “Wait! I’m paying y you to handle this. How can you walk away before you finish your job?”
“I can refund part of your retainer fee.”
Elianna clung to him desperately, her voice sharp with panic. “No, you can’t leave!”
The lawyer was filled with bitter regret. ‘If only I could turn back time, I’d punch myself for taking her case.
The lawyer thought bitterly, “Had I known Ms. Stone would be this impossible to deal with, I never would’ve taken this case in the first place!”
The lawyer’s face was etched with exhaustion as he pleaded, “Ms. Stone, what on earth do you want from this?”
“I’ll compromise, but I won’t accept anything less than half of what I originally paid.”
‘If she’s willing to compromise, then there’s still room for negotiation,‘ the lawyer thought with relief.
He beamed with a broad smile. “Great, I’ll handle it right away.”
The lawyer reached out to Leon to inquire about his continued interest in the acquisition. “We can accept your offer at half the original price. Would you still like to proceed with the deal?”
Leon didn’t respond immediately. After a long, deliberate pause, he said with feigned indifference, “To be honest, I’m not that interested in buying anymore.”

The lawyer, growing anxious, urged, “Some of these works are quite decent. If you adapt them well, you may recoup your investment.”
Leon stifled a smirk. After he’d had his fill, he finally put on a straight face, feigning reluctance. “Well, I suppose you do have a point.
“Fine then, let’s meet to sign the contract.”

The lawyer was over the moon. He grabbed the contract, already prepared in advance, and rushed out to meet Leon. Both parties were in high spirits. One hand signing the deal, the other handing over the payment.
After going full circle, the copyrights for the novels ultimately landed back in Skylar’s company, and at a price far lower than she’d originally budgeted
for.
Skylar immediately ordered her team to post an official announcement on their social media. Such pleasant news must be shared with everyone, especially with one particular person.
When Elianna learned that the novel’s copyrights had returned to Skylar, the realization hit her like a thunderbolt. ‘The buyer must have been one of Skylar’s people!‘
Skylar acquired them at an even lower price than before. All of Elianna’s scheming had just handed Skylar victory on a silver platter. Skylar even made a grand show announcing it publicly to humiliate Elianna.
Blinded by fury, Elianna hurled her phone to the ground with all her might.
