Some people appeared tough but were paper tigers that shattered at the slightest touch. Joanna thought that Larry was that type.
He might have been formidable in his youth, but in old age, all that remained was his prestige. Prestige was built on mutual trust and respect for elders. Once that trust was broken, nothing remained.
Larry had broken the trust himself. And Landon had never been the type to allow anyone to push him around.
Tuff brought cloned Porter back, safe and sound, to Joanna. “Joanna, you can head home now. I’ll let you know as soon as the test results are out,” he said.
“Alright,” Joanna said.
Joanna got up and gently hooked her arm through cloned Porter’s. She then asked gently, “How are you feeling?”
“Except for the sting when they took my blood, I’m good,” cloned Porter replied.
“Let’s go,” Joanna said.
“Alright.” The couple, escorted, walked out arm in arm.
Tuff glanced at the tense faces and broke the silence with a smile, trying to ease things up between Larry and Landon. “Dr. Mitchell, Monroe has deceived us,” he said.
“Huh?” Larry was shocked.
“There’s n no such thing as a perfect clone; he’s got his flaws,” Tuff said, holding up a report. “His metabolism is running at twice the normal rate. In other words, he’s aging prematurely. Preliminary estimate shows his lifespan is only about five more years.”
“How could it be?” Larry’s face turned ashen from the blow. ‘Five years… It’s only five years… he thought in disbelief.
“But since he’s willing to cooperate, it’s of great help to our cloning technology,” Tuff said, leaving the report behind. “Landon, come with me. Let’s go grab some things for your sister.”
“Alright,” Landon replied, then turned to look at Larry, his gaze deep, The respect and gratitude he once felt for his mentor were now covered in a layer of frost.
‘Dr. Mitchell has become muddle–headed. I must stop him from cloning himself,’ he thought.
“Goodbye, Dr. Mitchell,” Landon said gravely.
Larry fell silent, his frail body trembling uncontrollably. After a long while, he stared at Landon’s back and asked, “So you’re not going to treat your sister anymore?”
‘Morgan is Dr. Mitchell’s brother! He’s threatening me!‘ Landon thought..
Anger in Landon’s heart flared up, and he said without even turning his head, “Leave it if it can’t be cured.”
Larry finally slumped down in the chair, defeated and powerless. The plan he had made for love had ended before it had even begun,
After walking some distance, Tuff nudged Landon’s arm and asked, “Doesn’t it bother your conscience to be so ungrateful?”
Then he realized he had hit Landon’s injured arm and quickly apologized, “My bad; I didn’t mean it.”
“Hiss… Landon played along, letting out a pained hiss.
‘Man, his reflexes are a little too long, Tuff thought.

Actually, Kimsey had already healed the wound on his arm the day before. His chubby hands brushed over the injury, and it vanished without a trace.
It was truly miraculous. Landon eliminated Monroe today mainly to keep Kimsey safe.
“Landon, quickly take off your shirt and let me check. If the wound’s split open, we need to treat it, or your honey’s gonna blame me,” Tuff said, reaching for Landon’s shirt.
Landon dodged, rolling his eyes, and said, “What? Are you trying to add insult to injury?”
“Do it yourself then,” Tuff shot back.
“Nah, it’s fine. I can feel it’s not split open,” Landon replied.
Tuff still didn’t buy it. Landon always put on a tough front; Tuff knew him too well. That bump earlier was no joke; he was definitely bleeding.
“Landon, don’t be stubborn,” Tuff said helplessly, but Landon just got in the car and left, not even looking back.
Tuff was speechless, ‘He’s a father now, but still acts like a hothead!‘ he thought.
Amelia had been worried that Aiden would mess things up, but to her shock, he managed to bring Jonny back to Lunova in just a few days.
The base Monroe left for Jonny wasn’t that big. It was in the Lunova suburbs, and there weren’t many people. They were all annihilated.
After handing Jonny over to Project Azureveil, Landon finally tendered his resignation.
As cloned Porter’s medical examination results came one after another, Landon grew increasingly doubtful about cloning.
‘There are just too many flaws. A clone isn’t a normal person at all; it’s like a monster that amplifies all the original’s hidden flaws.
‘Instead of stubbornly holding on, it’s better to let go and preserve the dignity that remains,’ Landon thought.
“Landon, your sister’s illness… There’s really nothing else we can do. We’ve tried everything,” Larry forced a smile.
As his mentor, he had to explain clearly. He didn’t want Landon to think that he had refused to help.
“I know; we’ve given up. Whatever happens, happens,” Landon replied calmly, handing over everything related to the Flying Tiger Sect. Uniforms, weapons, keys…
These things were once his greatest pride, but letting them go now made him feel unexpectedly relaxed.
As he walked out of Project Azureveil, Landon looked back at the majestic estate and silently said to himself, “Goodbye.”
“Congrats on quitting,” Night Owl and Aiden said. They had been waiting outside for a while.
Night Owl walked up and hugged Landon. “You’re right. Flying Tiger Sect would be just fine without you,” she said.
“Yeah…” Landon murmured, overwhelmed with emotion.
Landon couldn’t help but wonder, ‘If Dawson had left the organization earlier, would things have turned out any differently?‘
“Did you rest well?” Landon asked.
A couple of days ago, at Daniel and Edith’s wedding, Night Owl had been seriously injured from using hypnosis. But today, she looked pretty good.
“I’m feeling much better now,” Night Owl said, gesturing toward the car behind her. “He’s been taking good care of me.”
“Just stay together, okay? I’m glad someone’s taking care of you,” Landon said with a smile.

Night Owl looked a little shy, but she was never one for drama. She nodded and said, “Sure.”
Landon smiled. He finally lived up to his comrades‘ expectations, helping Night Owl step out of the shadows.

“Get in the car!” Aiden called out. ‘Man, this sucks,‘ Aiden thought. ‘They’re all laughing, and I’m just stuck over here on the sidelines. All because Night Owl told me to stay out of it.‘
“Coming!” Night Owl replied and got in the car with Landon.
Aiden updated Landon on the details of Jonny’s capture, and Landon listened quietly. “By the way, what about Monica?” Aiden asked.
“We’ll wait until she delivers, then finish her off,” Landon said coldly.
Aiden nodded in agreement and said, “A lunatic like her shouldn’t stay. If it were up to me, I’d kill her right now.”
“She’s pregnant. I don’t lay a hand on pregnant women,” Landon said. Perhaps it was because of his sister’s injuries that he had become soft–hearted toward female enemies.
Amy said his sister’s condition would flare up again in a couple of days. ‘How I wish Kimsey could cure her,‘ Landon thought.
Aiden pursed his lips and said, “Let’s hope Paul’s genes are strong enough to suppress the crazy streak from the Montgomery family.”
“What about Marvel then?” Night Owl asked.
“He doesn’t have superpowers; he’s just smart. He’ll stay at Project Azureveil and continue to be a tool,” Landon replied.
“That’s fine, as he doesn’t have superpowers anyway,” Night Owl said.
Night Owl was seriously traumatized by all those deranged people with superpowers. ‘Extraordinary abilities are a blessing from heaven and should be used for good. If used for evil, they would surely incur retribution,‘ she thought.
“Dinner tonight is on you, Landon,” Aiden said.
“Alright,” Lennon replied, agreeing with a grin. Now that he had finally quit, he couldn’t wait to celebrate with his wife.
Just then, his phone rang. Tuff, his voice choked with emotion, said, “Your sister’s back to the hospital again…”
