LUNA AQUAMARINE’S POV
“What did I do?” I asked, staring at his golden wide eyes.
His grip on my arm tightened until it burned. I yanked, but he didn’t let go.

“Claiming that thing was enough to pay their debt?!” His voice cut through the empty hall, low but dangerous. “What’s wrong with you? You don’t even know what that thing is, or what it stands for.”
“Is that why you want to rip off my arm?” I snapped back, trying to peel his hand off my still- bandaged arm.
“I might as well do it because of your foolishness,” he barked. “But what can I say–you know absolutely nothing. Nothing about the creatures or yourself.”
Myself? Is he insulting me now?
My anger flared hotter than fear. “So turning him into a slave is the best way? I know you, Alexander. You won’t give him back his pack. You’ll probably work him to death before he even lasts four months. And then you made me part of it without even asking. Putting me in charge of that pack? I should be the one demanding for answers. What am I supposed to do?”
His eyes darkened. “You’re supposed to be useful to me,” he snarled. “Not turn down a good opportunity every damn time you get the chance. Quite acting like a child who hates the mention of responsibility. You need to grow up.”
My stomach churned and my blood ran cold. “That’s what you think?” I asked, my voice trembling. “I’m useless?”
“Your words, not mine,” he replied sharply, like he didn’t care. Like he meant every word he said. I just stared at him with wide eyes.
His dark eyes roamed my face as he twisted his face in disgust. “I know I’ve told you the type of people I despise.”
I gasped, speechless, shocked and soo hurt that it made my heart clench.
“Clifford will serve you whether you like it or not. Since you haven’t noticed, Levi and Aaron are very busy, and I don’t want you roaming the castle creating a scene.”
“I don’t want any slaves,” I said, my voice breaking with fury. “I’m perfectly fine by myself- and I certainly do not need you, or Levi, or Aaron, to help me with anything. I’m not begging you to see me, Alexander.”

Alexander didn’t look moved. Instead, his jaw clenched and his eyebrow twitched, “Whatever you say. But don’t cause more trouble than you already have. I don’t have time for your shenanigans. Like the drama you caused when you foolishly pushed me off-”
“You shouldn’t have come in to wash me like a freak!” I cut him off.
He sneered soo close to my face that I could feel his hot breath hit me and his eyes narrowed, “No more covering up for you. Whatever you hear outside is all on you.”
“Fine!” I spat, “You won’t feel my presence or hear my voice because you clearly don’t deserve it!”
“That would be better. Now if you excuse me, I have serious matters to attend-”
“With Fiona, right?” I cut him off.
“Absolutely,” he answered slowly, with a smirk on his face, as if he was making sure all the words sank into my head. “You weren’t deaf when I mentioned she is very useful.”
Again, my heart shattered into pieces. Tears prickled at the corners of my eyes, but I didn’t wait for him to see them.
“You disgust me.”
With all my strength, I pulled my arm free from him and stormed out. I could feel his stare like arrows piercing my back, but I didn’t stop until I reached the door–only to find Clifford standing there, staring down at me.
Clifford stood in the doorway, blocking my path. I felt his eyes on me but I walked past him.
He followed without a word, his heavy presence trailing me all the way through the corridor. I didn’t look back until I reached my door.
Spinning around, I faced him. “You don’t have to do anything,” I said, my voice steadier than I felt. “Don’t mind them. Don’t mind any of this. I won’t let anyone treat you like a slave here, Clifford.”
His brows furrowed, but before he could speak, I turned to the guard by my door. “Take him to a good room,” I ordered. “Make sure he has clothes and food. Proper ones. He’s not to be left in rags.”
The guard bowed slightly, already stepping forward. Clifford’s gaze stayed on me, searching, but I didn’t give him more.
I couldn’t look him in the eye. Not after he saw what happened between Alexander and me.
When they left together, I finally turned the key and pushed into my room. The door closed

I released a shaky breath. My arm still burned from his grip, but it was nothing compared to the sting of his voice.
Useless. The word wouldn’t stop ringing in my head, over and over, sharper than any blade.
My throat tightened. I dragged my fingers over the bandage on my arm, digging into it like I could rip his voice out of me.
“I’m not useless,” I whispered, the words breaking before I could finish them. My chest ached. “I don’t need him. Or his favours. Or his men.”
I stumbled to the table, hands shaking as I yanked open the drawer until I found scissors. My breathing was harsh, my anger louder than reason. The bandage mocked me, wrapped around my skin like chains, like proof of everything he thought I couldn’t handle.
One cut. The cloth loosened. Another cut. The strips fell, piece by piece, like shedding shame.
I didn’t stop. I wanted it gone, every reminder of him, every reminder that he thought I was weak. I tugged at the last strip, my breath coming fast, my nails biting into the edge of something hard.
But before I could pull it free, a hand caught mine. Firm.
I froze, my heart leaping into my throat. My eyes flew up-
Levi.
His grip wasn’t rough, but it was enough to push my hand away from the bandage, enough to stop me. His gaze locked on mine and time seemed to stop.
“I’m sorry, Luna. But this must be done.” He whispered before all went black.
