Did he mean me? 

I was beautiful, yes. 

But even though Reynald wasn’t serious, he wouldn’t joke about women. 

“Mr. Hamilton was joking, Charlotte and I are just friends,” he said. 

Then, a smile. “Of course, if Charlotte is in need of a boyfriend, I would be happy to volunteer.” 

Interesting… 

Jaxson’s deep eyes fell silent for a moment. 

Caroline, oblivious, laughed. 

“Dr. Sutton and Mr. Steward are quite a good match.” 

Jaxson remained unmoved. 

Slowly, I released my clenched hand, turning to Reynald. 

“Reynald, let’s go upstairs first. It’s better not to disturb Mr. Hamilton and his girlfriend.” 

Caroline was both surprised and delighted. 

I looked… better, apparently. 

Reynald, puzzled, looked at Caroline and Jaxson, then recalled a trending Instagram post, understanding. 

He said nothing more, entering the elevator with me. 

Caroline linked her arm with Jaxson’s, her voice coquettish.“Jaxson, we also-” 

He pulled his hand away, blocking the closing elevator doors. 

“Mr. Steward, do you mind taking the same elevator with me?” 

His voice was icy, but his expression remained impassive. 

Reynald shrugged.“Of course.” 

I stood beside Reynald, looking down in silence. Jaxson stood next to me, but I moved closer to Reynald. 

When Caroline entered, she looked at Jaxson, then at me, secretly clenching her fists. 

He’d just… dumped her. 

No explanation. 

Was it because of me? She’d had someone investigate me, finding no connection between Jaxson and me. 

They said she was overthinking it, but his behavior… jealousy! 

The thought almost made her bite her teeth to pieces. 

The elevator rose slowly, eerily quiet. 

Another group of people entered, and I tried to move closer to Reynald to make room. 

I was pulled, stumbled, and bumped into the person beside me.
