Claudia stared at those comments for a moment, then silently closed the trending feed.
After a long silence, Gloria finally asked cautiously, “Claudia… are you… are you okay?”
She had only wanted her friend to see Summer get slapped in the face and cheer up a little. She never imagined things would turn out like this.
That Alan must be sick in the head!

Claudia’s tone was calm, and she even smiled a little. “I don’t care about any of this anymore. Let them make a fuss if they want.”

Once she hung up, she checked the missed number and froze.
It was Harry.
Why would he be calling her? Did he wake up from surgery?

Summer sat holding her phone, scrolling through the trending comments filled with people cursing her. Tears streamed down silently, and the delicious spread on the table couldn’t stir her appetite at all.
“Don’t cry, Madam Summer.”
Andy sat next to her, trying to comfort her, then glared at Alan at the head of the table.
“Dad, did you bully Summer? She’s been sad ever since she came back last night!”
Summer quickly tugged at Andy’s arm, forcing herself to swallow down the sob in her throat. “Andy, you can’t talk to your dad like that. I’m fine, I’ll feel better soon.”
Alan calmly drew out a napkin, wiped his lips with elegance, and said blandly, “Don’t worry. I already had the corporation’s official account release a statement. No one will pay attention to the dress issue anymore.”
But what she wanted was more than that!
As long as she could get the gown back and wear it again, all the online smears would collapse on themselves.
The narrative might have been shifted for now, but the real core problem wasn’t solved. She would never be able to explain clearly why the Moonrose had ended up on her.
Still, Summer knew Alan had already gone out of his way. If she brought up the dress again, she’d look petty and ungrateful.
She dabbed away her tears, smiled sweetly, and thanked him, then reached out to ruffle Andy’s hair, coaxing him to eat more vegetables.
