Chapter 4
After Jesse Moore turned and left, everyone in the private room burst into hysterical laughter.
“Hahaha, I’m dying!” Zachary clutched his stomach, pointing at me while doubled over.
“Did she actually think the manager would help her?”
“The owner here is well–connected. He’s seen this kind of scene a thousand times…”
Nicole leaned into Alexander’s arms, fake tears glistening as she wiped her
eyes.
“Katherine, don’t be like this. It breaks my heart to see you…‘

Alexander immediately tightened his hold on Nicole, shooting me a disgusted glare.
“See how well–behaved Nicole is? What can you do besides throw tantrums? Today I’ll make sure you
remember this lesson.”
I kept my head down, silent, thinking how to buy time.
“Pathetic.”
Seeing my state, Alexander suddenly stood up and barked, “Take her to the main hall. Let everyone see what a thief looks like.”
“No!” Panic surged through me. “Alexander, you can’t do this!”
“Can’t? Why the hell not?” He sneered, yanking my hair. “Who do you think you are?”
Dragging me out, my knees scraped against the floor, burning with pain.
Nicole followed, whispering, “Alexander, isn’t this too cruel…”
“Cruel?” Alexander paused, gently stroking her head. “Nicole, you’re too kind. No punishment is too harsh for a thief.”
The main hall was packed, music blasting deafeningly.
Alexander shoved me onto the central stage, shouting at the DJ, “Lights on her!”
Blinding spotlights immediately pinned me down. I instinctively raised my arms to shield my eyes.

Alexander grabbed the mic, pointing at me crumpled on the floor. “Meet my ex–girlfriend–the thief who stole my sister’s water!”
A commotion swept through the crowd.
“Damn, this is wild! Gotta call my buddies to see this!”
“Pretty face, but look what she did?”
“Tsk tsk, dressed like that? Clearly trash.”
Trembling on stage, my shirt long gone, I stood covered in wine stains and bruises.
Countless eyes drilled into me–some whistling, others snapping photos, still others chanting for me to strip.
“Come on, dance for us!”
Alexander flung that familiar lace dress at my face, sneering. “Do it well, and I might let you go.”
I stood frozen.
“Refusing?” Alexander turned to the crowd. “Who wants to teach her?”
“Me!”
“Pick me!”
Several men frantically raised hands.
Zachary vaulted onto the stage, grabbing my waist. “Sweetheart, I’ll show you how…”
His hands roamed over my body. I felt so sick I vomited,
Humiliated publicly, Zachary’s face darkened. “You bitch! Dared puke on me?”
He yanked my hair and slammed me to the floor.
