Chapter 9
The name flashed across her mind. He had once spotted her having lunch at Vesper Restaurant, and those were what she ordered.
She suddenly raised her hands and swept the food containers into the trash bin, losing all appetite.
She didn’t need anything from him-no gesture, no favor, no nothing.
Just then, a nurse dressed in a pink uniform pushed open the door and walked in, wearing a standard professional smile.
“Ms. Harrett, you’re awake. How are you feeling?”
Roxanne nodded weakly. “Much better. Thank you.”
“Oh, why are these containers in the trash bin? They aren’t even open yet. There’s a microwave over there. I can help you heat the food.”
The nurse saw the exquisite food containers in the trash bin, recalling that they had merely been brought over a couple of hours ago.
“I don’t want it anymore. It’s gone rotten,” Roxanne said meaningfully.
The nurse swiftly checked the IV bottle before smiling at her, “Alright. Let’s get you to another ward.”
“Another ward?” Confused, Roxanne looked at her. “Why?”
The nurse smiled even more sweetly, “Some bigshot has arranged for you to move into a VIP suite up- stairs. It’s quieter and nicer there, which is better for your recovery.”
“A VIP suite?” Still stunned, Roxanne repeated with uncertainty. “Who arranged for that?”
Her ward was upgraded? Was she in a hospital or a plane?
Maintaining a warm smile, the nurse said bluntly, “I’m afraid I don’t know about that. I carry orders, and that’s all. You don’t have to worry about the paperwork-it’s all been taken care of. Just come with me.”
Roxanne shook her head. “No. It’s fine here.”
Between the seafood risotto, the spinach soup, and the ward upgrade, she knew the answer very well.

Chapter 9
Johnny was behind it.
But the harm was already done, and she didn’t need his pity.
Just then, Chloe stepped inside with soup and a bouquet in her hands.
“Roxy, are you feeling better now? Are you hungry? Here’s the soup Mom made for you.”
She then saw the food containers, too. “Since when does Vesper Restaurant do delivery?”
Roxanne said coldly, “No idea. Anyway, the food’s gone bad.”

Chloe winked at her. “I guess it’s from some secret admirer. I told you so, didn’t I? There are plenty of nice guys out there. If you still cling to that jerk, you’ll be the biggest idiot in the world.”
At the same time, Johnny suddenly sneezed.
Remembering something, Chloe sat by the bed. “Why did you announce your comeback before you get discharged?”
Roxanne was dumbfounded again. “Comeback?”
Chloe showed her the phone, and the top trending topics on the list were all about Ms. R.
Within just a few hours, the news that Ms. R would attend the summit had already spread across the globe.
Roxanne’s heart skipped a beat. Only two people in the world would dare announce this news in such a high-profile way.
It was him.
Her three-year agreement with Johnny was coming to an end, and he had already announced the news?
The psycho really couldn’t wait a day longer, could he?
After a few days of rest, Roxanne could finally be discharged.
She hated the pungent smell of disinfectant in the hospital.
Away on a business trip, Chloe had sent a driver to pick her up.
Still a bit weak, she came back to the apartment she had bought before marrying Johnny. It wasn’t ex- actly spacious, but it was hers alone, and the sense of safety it brought was irreplaceable.
It had been cleaned regularly, and every spot was dustless and bright. Even the bouquet on the table was
freshly picked.
Located in the prime location in town, the apartment was measured in diamonds rather than dollars. The view from the balcony was exceptionally amazing-whenever she looked up, she could see the 80-plus- story building of the Padilla Group standing like a giant in the heart of the city.
