Chapter 14

Not far away from them, Johnny sat in the shadow with a glass of wine in his hand, his cold, deep-set eyes fixing on her slender figure.

Roxanne?

Why was she with Marlon?

He squinted, his gaze falling upon her side profile accurately through the crowd.

It was really her.

Roxanne, his wife in name only.

His

followed them until they stopped at the door to Tulip Chamber.

The door was left slightly ajar.

Out of impulsiveness, he walked over and peeked inside.

Marlon sat in the main seat with two women at his sides.

One was Roxanne.

She seemed as plain as ever. Johnny snorted coldly, not buying for a second that she was Ms. R, the mysterious legend.

The other woman seemed younger and more immature. Her fawning smile convinced Johnny she wasn’t Ms. R either.

Could it be…

His razor-sharp gaze locked onto the young man beside Roxanne. Despite the young man’s hearty grin throughout the entire time, his extraordinary aura stood out effortlessly.

Was he Ms. R?

Roxanne was close with Ms. R? But… how come she never said anything about it?

A sense of inexplicable irritation washed over Johnny instantly.

Just then, Roxanne’s phone rang. She whispered something in Marlon’s ear and then walked out alone.

Coming to a secluded corner, she was about to answer.

“Hello…”

Before she could say more, a brutal force yanked her backward abruptly.

Her world turned upside down as she bumped into a hard, scorching chest. Instantly, her senses were overwhelmed with the strong smell of alcohol laced with a familiar, icy fragrance.

It was Johnny.

“Good for you, Roxanne.”

His deep, glacial voice rang above her head, tinged with undisguised sarcasm and anger.

“The last time I checked, we’re still married. Yet you’re so horny, looking for your next target already.”

His steely arms locked around her slender waist, almost crushing her.

It hurt.

She struggled hard to push him away, her tone chillingly icy. “Are you crazy, Johnny? Let go of me!”

But he didn’t let go. Instead, he tightened his grip and leaned closer to her, complicated emotions surg- ing in his eyes.

There was rage, frustration, and even a hint of possessiveness he himself had not realized.

“I’m crazy?” he sneered.

“How else do you expect me to react, seeing my wife chatting and laughing with another guy?”

“Mr. Padilla, in case you’ve forgotten, we’re in the process of getting a divorce.”

Roxanne looked up and met his gaze, unflinching at all. Then she curved her lips into a mocking smile. “Besides, since when do you give a damn about me?”

He narrowed his eyes, a titillating scene emerging in his mind as his gaze fell upon her pretty face.

“You know exactly when I can’t resist you.”

She was stunned for a second before her cheeks heated.

Since when did he become so cheeky?

“Mr. Padilla, I assume you cornered me here today not just to catch up with me,” she said flatly.

He let go of her, returning to his usual indifference. “Are you close with Marlon?”

“What’s it to you?”

“So, you know who Ms. R is, don’t you?” It was the one thing he really wanted to know.

Hearing this, she looked at him with a half-smile. “Well, well. Your interest in Ms. R surprises me, Mr. Padilla. Oh, that’s right. The Padilla Group is involved in the medical industry, too.”

Having no intention of beating around the bushes, he said bluntly, “Tell me who Ms. R is, and I’ll amend the divorce agreement. You’ll receive 30 million dollars more.”

Crossing her arms over her chest, she looked at him with amusement.

“30 million dollars? Gee, you’re so generous, Mr. Padilla. You know what? I did want to tell you at first. But I suddenly had a change of mind.”

He had never realized she was this greedy.
