“John… I was … so terrified… I thought…”

…

Frightened, she trembled violently, her face ghastly pale. She didn’t even have the strength to stand up.

Holding her close, Johnny felt every tremor that ran through her body, which broke his heart.

Patting her back, he said, his voice gentler and more reassuring than ever, “It’s fine, Maryanne.

“Everything’s fine now. I’m here.”

He dreaded to think what would have happened if he had shown up a few seconds later.

A terrifyingly dangerous cold glint flickered in his eyes.

He carefully picked Maryanne up.

Like a frightened kitten, she nestled in his arms and buried her face in his chest, seeking a sense of safe-

With her in his arms, Johnny walked out of the break room.

In the hallway, he bumped into Milton, who had rushed over.

Milton was stunned when he saw the trembling Maryanne.

“What happened?” he asked.

While walking forward, Johnny said, his tone icy, “Someone tried to hurt Maryanne. She’s badly shak- en.”

His gaze swept across the beautiful scenery with undisguised disgust and murderous intent.

“See to it that the bastard vanishes from Seaville for good. And this club? Time to make it history.”

With this, he strode away with Maryanne in his arms, not looking back at all.

Standing by the private room’s door, Roxanne witnessed everything.

Johnny held Maryanne in his arms with deliberate gentleness, as if she were a precious treasure. Though he was obviously in a hurry to leave-likely for some quiet, safe place to soothe her-every line of

his profile was tight, his protective intention obvious.

Having seen the whole thing, she was overcome with indescribable emotions.

A wave of bitterness surged through her.

On top of that, she felt powerless.

He really doted on Maryanne in every possible way.

After leaving the club, Marlon took Roxanne to a brand-new skyscraper.

She looked up, her neck almost snapping.

“Forty-eight floors…” she murmured, astonished by how tall the building was.

Marlon smiled and made a “please” gesture, “Go inside and take a look.”

The elevator went directly to the top floor. As the doors opened, she gaped at the spacious space and the stunning view, which almost overlooked half of Seaville.

Though decorated in a minimalist, modern style, the interior was infused with an understated luxury.

“Exactly how loaded are you, Marlon?” Roxanne couldn’t help but click her tongue. “You actually bought this place? I thought you were just gonna rent it for a couple of weeks and would leave after the summit. This is … a bit too much, don’t you think?”

With hands in his pockets, Marlon walked to the giant floor-to-ceiling window, his posture upright.

His jaw tightened as he gazed at an equally magnificent skyscraper in the distance, with the bold, eye- catching words “The Padilla Group” on its rooftop.

He curved his lips into a cold smile.

“Rent?” he said, his tone slightly disapproving. “That would have ruined all the fun.”

Hearing this, Roxanne turned to look at him. The sunshine outlined his perfect silhouette, and the mag- netic certainty he radiated made her heart skip a beat.

“It must have cost you dearly, huh? Looks like the Sowle Group is officially moving into Seaville,” she teased.

Marlon turned around, his deep gaze fixing on her.

“Since the battlefield has shifted here,” he said, his voice not exactly loud but clear enough, “I ought to make proper preparations.”

He paused, looking over at the Padilla Group building again, his gaze predatory and razor-sharp, like

that of a hunter.

“Only then can I strike my enemy down with a single yet fatal blow.”

Seeing how serious he was, Roxanne couldn’t help but let out a laugh disapprovingly. “Your enemy? But you just arrived in Seaville. How could you have an enemy already?”

He looked at her, his gaze filled with affection. “But I do have one, a very powerful one, no less.”
