Chapter 20
It was exactly what Roxanne was thinking. “But I gotta see her first, right? And it has to look casual.”
“You know what? Her birthday is at the end of the month! It won’t be anything big-just a few friends. gathering because the Osborne family doesn’t want to exhaust her. Why don’t we come over together?”
It was great news. Roxanne said, looking at Chloe, “Sure.”
They continued to eat happily. Just then, Chloe’s phone rang. It was a photo of Timothy kissing a Z-list star passionately.
Chloe coldly said, “The manwhore’s taste keeps hitting new lows.”
Roxanne glanced at her, a bit worried. “Are you alright?”
She put down the spoon and smiled brightly, “Look at me. What do you think? You give Timothy too much credit. He means nothing to me.”
When saying this, she pointed to her own heart, her eyes as crystal clear as ever. No trace of sadness could be found.
She and Timothy grew up together and, as per their families’ arrangement, got engaged when they were both eighteen.
But he had been a notorious player over the years, and she had long lost hope in him.
She was set to focus entirely on her work now. When she took power, she’d tell everyone about calling off the engagement. The time to have a fallout with the Preston family hadn’t come.
Seeing this, Roxanne smiled, no longer feeling worried.
“Who sent the photo to you?” she asked.
“Beats me. I get one photo every month on time-it’s even more punctual than my period. On top of that, the women in those photos never repeat. The ones before were OK, all smoking-hot international super- models. But now he’s downgraded to some Z-list starlet?”
Chloe shook her head while looking at the photo, clicking her tongue with contempt.
Then she suggested, “Hey, why don’t we get someone to dig out dirt about Johnny?”

After a pause, Roxanne said, “I don’t think that’s necessary.”
A clean break was what she needed.

At night, Johnny came back to Eken Villa for some reason. The servants were trimming the newly de- livered lilies.
“You’re back, Mr. Padilla.” The housekeeper quickly walked toward him. “This is the newly delivered green lily. It’s very precious-in fact, only less than ten of them exist in the entire world. Mrs. Padilla will be so thrilled when she sees it.”
Johnny glanced at the green lily before heading to the main manor, deadpan.
A wave of frustration washed over him. Back then, upon learning of Roxanne’s love for lilies, he’d scoured the globe for the most exquisite and rare varieties.
They were all cultivated in the Missanne Garden.
All he had ever wanted was to see her delighted every time she came to Eken Villa.
But she’d never be here again.
As he stood on the balcony and stared at the garden of lilies, an inexplicable sense of loss surged through him.
Shit!
He actually missed her…
Though life in Seaville was rich, Roxanne seldom went out.
But tonight, Chloe insisted on dragging her out to enjoy the nightlife.
Their first stop was a boxing gym, filled with sexy, handsome, and young hunks.
As the bell rang, the crowd erupted. The match would soon begin.
“Look! Number Seventeen is about to go on stage!”
Saying this, Chloe grabbed a napkin, folded it into a heart shape, pressed her lips against it, and handed it to a waiter.
“Could you give this to Number Seventeen? Let him know it’s from Booth One and that I’m cheering him on.”
Obviously, it wasn’t the first time the waiter had received such a request. He nodded, took the napkin,

and soon left.
Number Seventeen stood by the edge of the boxing ring, warming up, his gaze sharp as a blade.
Taking the napkin, he squinted and glanced over at Booth One, his gaze obscure.
A few seconds later, the bell rang again.
