Chapter29

After he stepped off the stage, the host announced the official start of the banquet’s performance seg-

ment.

The first act was none other than Vivian’s violin solo.

Spotlights illuminated the stage once more as Vivian, now in a white evening gown, walked gracefully to center stage with her violin.

It had to be admitted-as a movie queen, her stage presence was magnetic.

Every smile, every glance, perfectly showcased her charm.

Melodious notes filled the air-a technically complex classical masterpiece.

Vivian played with fluid precision, drawing admiration from many guests.

“Wow, I never knew Vivian played violin so well!”

“Truly talented-beautiful and gifted.”

“She could headline concerts with that skill!”

“She’s the Ford Family’s future matriarch. Excellence runs in her veins.”

Amidst the murmurs and rising applause, Vivian’s smile grew smug and self-assured.

Her eyes flickered almost imperceptibly toward Lisa and Matthew’s direction-a subtle challenge.

Matthew curled her lip, whispering to Lisa:

“Putting on airs. Sounds like a hack job to me. Only fools here would buy it.’

After Vivian’s performance, the host introduced the next guest with fervor.

“Next, we’re honored to welcome a heavyweight artist from Fruyca!

”

Hailed as Fruyca’s nightingale, a legendary diva-let’s give a warm welcome to Madame Marianne!”

The applause and gasps now dwarfed earlier reactions.

Madame Marianne’s global prestige was unmatched; she performed only at state theaters, never accept- ing private invitations.

Her presence here proved the Ford Family’s clout and connections.

A stately, full-figured woman took the stage.

In an elegant dark gown, she greeted the audience in fluent French with a warm smile.

Even simple words carried operatic resonance. She signaled the musicians to begin.

As the prelude swelled, Marianne closed her eyes, drew a deep breath, and began.

“Ah…”

That single syllable, pure magic, seized every ear in the hall.

Her voice soared-crystalline, piercing clarity that seemed to touch the soul.

The entire hall fell silent, spellbound.

Celestial notes reverberated through the ballroom.

Vivian, still basking in her violin triumph, paled abruptly at Marianne’s voice.

How can this plump woman outsing me?

No. She won’t steal my spotlight.

Viciousness flashed in Vivian’s eyes.

Just as Marianne’s voice reached its zenith-

The banquet hall plunged into darkness.

Emergency lights flickered on.

The music died.

So did Marianne’s song.

“Ah-”

Shouts and screams erupted in the banquet hall, plunging the scene into chaos.

“What happened?

Is there a blackout?”

“What’s going on?”

“Could something be wrong?”

The crowd murmured restlessly.

Vivian’s lips curled into an imperceptible sneer.

Just as panic gripped everyone, a melodious piano melody suddenly pierced the darkness.

Limpid and bright, like a mountain spring, the notes instantly soothed their panic.

The restless crowd gradually quieted.

All held their breath, listening intently to this unexpected piano performance.

The music flowed gently, soft yet tinged with melancholy, brimming with hope and strength.

As if guiding lost souls through darkness.

Then that ethereal, crystalline voice rose again, weaving seamlessly with the piano into perfect harmo-

The accompaniment merged with Marian’s song, drawing everyone back into its spellbinding artistry.

Darkness and unease forgotten, leaving only boundless awe.

Lights flickered back on.

To their astonishment, they saw Lisa-fingers dancing across the keys of the white grand piano!

She resembled a moonlit goddess, radiant and pure.

Even more shocking-Lisa was playing with eyes closed!

Her slender fingers leapt nimbly across the keys, every note flawless.

Each melody tugged heartstrings, as if her soul sang through the instrument.

Playing blindfolded!

She was playing blindfolded!

All stood dumbstruck by Lisa’s performance, scarcely believing their eyes.

Alexander stood at the forefront, his gaze blazing as it fixed upon Lisa on stage. His heart stirred uncon- trollably.

He never knew Lisa could play piano!

A sightless piano performance-even world-class masters might not achieve such mastery.

Nor… such soul-stirring brilliance!

This was undeniably musical genius!

Alexander felt he was rediscovering Lisa.

This woman he’d once overlooked and belittled radiated such dazzling brilliance!

Below stage, Aaron’s eyes burned. How many years since he last heard her play?

As the final note faded, Lisa slowly opened her eyes. Her long lashes fluttered like butterfly wings, breathtakingly beautiful.

The hall fell utterly silent, all still immersed in the lingering melody, unable to surface from the en-

chantment.

Suddenly, thunderous applause erupted, praises echoing through the air.

Marianne’s eyes glistened. Approaching Lisa, she exclaimed emotionally in French:

“You played magnificently!

Thank you for completing my performance.”

Lisa offered only a faint smile.

Marianne took Lisa’s hand, and they descended the stage together amidst applause and cheers.

Just then, Marianne’s husband approached alongside Alexander.

Mr. Berry told Lisa in French:

“My deepest gratitude for assisting my wife.”

Alexander moved to translate, but Lisa responded in flawless French:
