“The young master and young lady don’t listen to us servants. Could you please come home and talk to them? At least persuade them to go to school.”

“Alright, I’m aware of this. I’ll handle it later.””

Cassandra lay languidly on the beauty chair, admiring her freshly manicured nails.

“There’s no need to tell Dominic about this. He’s busy enough with work, I don’t want him to worry.”

The phone was hung up. Her friend beside her teased,

“No way, are you actually going to deal with those brats? I mean, it’s great you married a

multi-millionaire, but having those two kids around is such a nuisance.”

“Who said I was going to deal with them?”

Cassandra yawned languidly, her eyes glinting with cunning.

“I’d be happy to let them turn into failures. That way, they won’t compete with my children for the

inheritance.”

With that, she made another call, this time to Leo and Mia’s homeroom teacher.

“Teacher, our children have some family matters to attend to recently, so they won’t be coming to school. You don’t need to worry too much about it. You know our family’s situation; they don’t need to

be too focused on school.”

“Also, their father has been very busy lately. If anything comes up, just speak to me directly, don’t

tell him.”

After hanging up, she finally relaxed, quickly dismissing the matter from her mind.

That evening, after her beauty treatments, she returned home-a rare occurrence.

The living room was in utter disarray from the children’s antics. Seeing her, the two children excitedly rushed over:

“Auntie Cassie, you’re finally back! We missed you so much!”

But to their surprise, Cassandra, who was usually gentle and smiling with them, looked extremely cold.

3:50 pm

She impatiently brushed them off:

“Alright, I’m busy with something. You two go play by yourselves.”

Leo, still expecting her to be as doting as before, angrily threw his toy on the ground:

“No! Auntie, play with us!”

Unexpectedly, upon hearing his words, Cassandra’s expression suddenly turned terrifying.

Those eyes that were once always warm and kind held no hint of a smile.

“What did you say? Who do you think you’re yelling at?”

“Don’t you know, I’m going to marry your father soon and become the new lady of this house.”

“Your father doesn’t like your useless mother at all. And soon, he’ll start disliking you two as well.”

The children were frightened, huddling together, not daring to breathe.

Gone was the arrogant demeanor they had shown when bullying Elara.

“Good, you understand. Remember, in this house, everything must go my way from now on. If you

dare to yell at me again, don’t blame me for being unkind.”

With that, she gave the children one last warning look, then coldly turned and went upstairs.

From then on, at Cassandra’s instigation, the housekeepers gradually stopped taking the children

seriously.

Not only did no one take them to school, but gradually, no one even bothered to specially prepare their daily meals.

They could only eat the leftover scraps after Cassandra had finished her dinner.

The scorching summer sun baked the city, and the hum of the air conditioning filled the Thorne

mansion.

Leo and Mia lay on the game room carpet, building Legos, occasionally stealing glances at Cassandra, who was trying on lipstick in front of the vanity mirror.
