18 Aurora’s Panic
They wouldn’t wait until now.
There was only one other possibility.
It was Isla.

Remembering what Lucas had said last night, Aurora nearly ground her teeth in frustration. Isla hadn’t been joking–she really would expose the matter.
But Aurora hadn’t expected her to do it in such a situation–letting reporters spread the news, and letting the hospital, the university, and even other hospitals know about her incident.
How could she survive in this circle now?
What a bitch.
The mentor scolded her for a long time, still unsatisfied. Finally, he threw her a warning. “You’d better handle this yourself, or don’t even bother coming to the hospital.”
With that, he left with another student, slamming the door behind him.
Aurora’s face was a storm of fury.

Meanwhile, Isla had just finished her class when she received a call from the principal. Someone important needed to see her.
At first, Isla didn’t want to respond, but then she reconsidered.
As expected, the important person the principal referred to was likely the Ronan of the Ellsworth Group, Ronan, who had caused a stir at the school that morning.
His assistant had contacted Logan yesterday. Logan told her, but Isla had ignored it.
And now, Ronan was personally coming to see her?
Clearly, this illness wasn’t simple.
If it were, anyone at a major hospital could handle it. There would be no need for such a busy CEO to visit in person.
Isla narrowed her eyes. Ronan clearly had secrets.

The principal hadn’t given details; he was likely just a middleman.

The fact that he had used the principal to reach her suggested one thing–he couldn’t be dealing with a trivial illness. Anyone without a serious condition wouldn’t go to such lengths just to find her.
It was interesting.
Isla found herself growing curious about this man.
She wanted to see the true face of the big shot that Aurora had been boasting about.
She packed up her books and walked out, arriving at the principal’s office door.
She paused for a moment before knocking.
“Come in,” came a deep, husky, and strangely familiar voice from inside.
Isla froze in her tracks, her pupils constricting sharply.
That voice was familiar.
Her eyes widened in shock and curiosity. Just as she was about to push the door open, someone yanked it aside.
David, seeing her, felt his heart leap into his throat. “Is- you are?”
“And you
you are?”
Isla frowned at him briefly, then looked into the office, where a man in a black suit sat with his back to her.
She froze.
Rowan?
Had she really just seen Rowan?
The man seemed to hear a noise and was about to turn, but David slammed the door shut, blocking her view.
She furrowed her brows, a little confused. Had she imagined it?
Why did that person just now look so much like Rowan? And the voice that came through sounded the same, too.
She was lost in thought when she heard David speak. “I’m an investor for the school. We’re

discussing some important matters right now. Miss, if you have anything urgent, you can tell me; I’ll
pass the message along for you.”
“An investor?”
David nodded. “That’s right. The principal is currently in talks with a few company owners. He probably doesn’t have time to meet with you at the moment.”
Company owners?
Was he talking about Ronan and his group?
She frowned. Then why did it feel like she had just caught a glimpse of Rowan?
Could it be that Ronan was wearing the same suit?
Could such a coincidence really exist in this world?
David stared at the doubtful look on her face, his heart racing.
But years of work experience had taught him how to mask his shock perfectly.
Isla sized him up for a moment and said, “I’m here to pass along a message. Angle had something important come up and couldn’t make it, so they asked me to inform the principal.”
David paused briefly, then nodded as he processed it.
After speaking, Isla glanced at him once and then walked away.
Watching her retreating figure, David thought to himself that she must not have seen the Ronan yet.
Just moments ago, he had thought Isla came looking for trouble. But seeing how she clearly didn’t recognize him, it was obvious she had never met him before.
Otherwise, since he had been standing right beside Ronan at the time, there was no way she wouldn’t have noticed him.
Isla was heading downstairs when a sudden voice stopped her.
“Isla, where did you go? Wait up.”
Logan popped out of nowhere, quickly catching up to her. He was buzzing with excitement as he started telling her everything that had just gone down in the lab.
Logan had been off stirring things up again. Word was, the doctors who came to watch the experiment had been furious when she never showed. Aurora, in particular, had taken the

“Isla, this gift you prepared for them–was that it? You have no idea how sour the lady’s face looked,” Logan said, grinning smugly.
Isla barely managed a response when her steps suddenly faltered.
Not far ahead stood two men, both about the same height. They were dressed in sharp suits, tall and lean, with stern, commanding features.
The Beaumont family had always been blessed with good genes. Back when Isla had just started college, people had even crowned her campus belle. With looks like that, it was only natural her two older brothers wouldn’t fall short.
