Chapter 12 The Request
Since there was no parking at the back, Ronan stepped out first.

As he surveyed the school, his eyes suddenly caught a familiar figure entering from the back
gate.
Isla was accompanied by a tall, handsome young man with a sunny demeanor.
Ronan pressed his thin lips together–too late to hide.
He scanned the area, then strode over to a few resting construction workers and handed them a stack of bills. “Do me a favor.”
With puzzled looks from the workers, he took off his hard hat.
David ran over, dumbfounded, his mouth hanging open. Before he could react, Ronan silenced him with a single glare.
Isla hadn’t expected to see Rowan here.
Originally, they were supposed to enter from the front, but due to the presence of many reporters, Logan had taken her through the back gate.
Because of the new teaching building, no one was allowed near the area.
So, there weren’t many people around.
Seeing the man in a full suit but wearing a hard hat, her expression was strangely conflicted.
She couldn’t pretend she hadn’t seen him. Stepping closer, she studied him from head to toe, then paused slightly and asked, “What are you doing here?”
Ronan pressed his thin lips together, his brows twitching at the way she was examining him. “Work.”
Why did she seem to appear wherever he went?
Isla furrowed her brows, glancing at his obviously expensive suit. “Work dressed like this?”
Her eyes then fell on the bright yellow hard hat on Rowan’s head–it looked completely absurd.
Ronan clenched his fist and cleared his throat, the helmet nearly falling off. He hurried to adjust it, revealing the expensive black watch on his wrist. “Yes, it’s my first day here for an interview.”

Isla drew her gaze back meaningfully. “That suit isn’t cheap, right?”

The man who had almost blown up over two eggs could actually afford such an expensive suit, and wear a pricey watch at that.
A fallen heir working at a construction site and still caring about appearances?
“Borrowed it from a friend,” he said.
Isla was silent for a moment.
She thought about it and nodded to herself. Although he had fallen from wealth, he had once been a high–class heir. Having two rich friends was not unusual.
She glanced at the building behind Rowan and sighed.
Despite his limp, he still had to come to a construction site to do labor.
Though she had been cruelly treated by her own family, at least she had encountered a lifesaving benefactor and hadn’t fallen to this point.
Still, there was nothing more to say–after all, a man of this age would naturally have a strong sense of pride.
Logan, curious, studied the man in front of him and asked, “Isla? Who is he?”
The man in front of her wore a suit and tie, exuding the aura of a typical domineering CEO.
Yet, perched atop his head was a construction helmet–he was apparently here to work at the
construction site.
Were construction workers these good–looking these days?
Ronan stared coldly at Isla, his temples visibly twitching with anger at the pity in her gaze.
He wanted to see how she would distance herself from him.
Earlier at the hospital, he had thought he might have been mistaken. But now, seeing the two of them laughing and walking side by side, he couldn’t help but suspect something.
The
young man in front of her was decked out in designer brands from head to toe–clearly a wealthy heir.
Though Ronan didn’t know the nature of their relationship, the fact that they spent so much time together suggested it was close.
And Isla–did she dare tell others what their relationship really was?

Isla merely frowned and shot a glance at the nosy guy. She didn’t like such an expression, and Rowan probably wouldn’t, either. “My husband. What’s the matter?” she said.
“Ah?” Logan’s mouth dropped open in shock. “You’re married? When did this happen? Why didn’t I know?”
“I’ll tell you later.”
Isla replied casually, then turned her attention back to Ronan, worried that his pride might be hurt by Logan’s words.
Ronan hadn’t expected her to admit their relationship so openly. For a moment, his eyes revealed surprise and complexity.
His impression of her shifted slightly.
Isla looked up at him. “Well, you go ahead. I have to head to work too. We’re at the same school anyway, so we can go back together after class and pick up some groceries.”
She still remembered the two eggs she had borrowed from him.
“No need. I told you, I won’t be coming back tonight.” Ronan’s voice was firm.
Isla paused, thinking that it was his first day at work and he must be busy. Construction work often required late hours; she understood that.
“Then we’ll
go
ahead.”
Once they walked a little distance away, David finally ran over, looking nervous. “Mr. Ellsworth, she didn’t notice, did she?”
It was all his fault–saying they should use the back entrance, but there was no parking here, and they had to make an extra trip. He almost caused trouble for Ronan,
Ronan’s eyes left the slender back in front of him. He reached up and removed the sweat- streaked hard hat. “It’s fine. Let’s go.”
