Chapter 4
Ryan placed both hands on my desk, his tone filled with confusion.

He asked, “Is it worth it? Giving up everything you’ve worked for over the past five years just to avoid one man? Eleanor, have you lost your mind?”
“You don’t understand.” I wanted to explain but didn’t know where to start.
He raised his voice, “Then help me understand. Eleanor, I’ve known you for five years. I know you’re not someone who runs away from responsibility. Now you’re going to throw it all away because of someone from your past?”
I looked up into his angry eyes, and the air around us seemed to grow several degrees colder because of his emotions.
I said, “Ryan.”
His voice softened, “Stay. If you don’t want to see him, I can transfer him back to Washington. But don’t leave. The company needs you, and I also…”
He didn’t finish his sentence, but his meaning was crystal clear.
My heart clenched painfully.
In my previous life, I had never experienced this feeling of being

cherished, of being needed.
“I need time to think about it.” I said.

Ryan nodded and said before turning to leave, “Don’t let him destroy you twice.”
Those words cut into my heart like a knife.
Yes, Anthony had already destroyed me once. Was I really going to give him a second chance?
After work, Anthony intercepted me at the elevator.
He asked, “Can we talk?”
Anthony’s voice was low and gentle, exactly the same tone he used to coax me in my previous life.
I said coldly, “That’s not necessary.”
I tried to walk around him and get directly into the elevator.
Anthony grabbed my wrist.
Then he asked, “Eleanor, why have you been avoiding me all these years?”
I shook off his hand and said coldly, “Mr. Reed, please conduct

yourself appropriately.”
Anthony lowered his voice and said, “I know you don’t like me anymore. But please, give me five minutes. I have something important to tell you.”
“Something important?” I sneered. “Like when you and Anna are getting married? Or that you two have a daughter and you want me to attend the celebration?”
Anthony’s expression suddenly changed. He asked, “How do you know about Anna? And I never said I had a daughter.”
Only then did I realize I had let something slip.
In my previous life’s timeline, Anna should just be pregnant now, and Grace hadn’t even been born yet.
I said, “I guessed. Weren’t you two together in high school?”
I quickly adjusted my expression, my heart nearly pounding out of my chest.
The elevator arrived, and I hurried inside.
But Anthony followed me in and pressed the close button.
He reached out with both arms, gripping my shoulders tightly.

Then, staring at me, he said, “That’s not right. You know too much, Eleanor. Unless… you were also reborn.”
The elevator began its descent.
