Chapter 24 Don’t You Know What Kind of Brother I Am?
Timothy’s face immediately darkened.
“It’s because Mom and Dad always coddled you that you turned out this entitled and uncontrollable,” Trevor said, his tone still mild. “Now that I’m staying in the country, and as your older brother… don’t you remember what kind of temper I have?”
Timothy exploded. “Then I’ll leave the country too! I’m gonna go find Mom!”
Thud!
Trevor tapped the baseball bat lightly against the floor.
The room fell silent.
He was still his older brother after all, and Timothy knew Trevor’s temper like the back of his hand. Always smiling, always polite, but one of those scary types who could kill you with a smile. Now that their parents wouldn’t be around to shield him, Timothy wasn’t about to start anything.
But Trevor wasn’t finished yet. Seeing that Timothy had finally shut up, he yanked him up by the collar and dragged him over to Claudia.
One word, flat and firm. “Apologize.”
Timothy glared at her like he wanted to bite her.

He used to love messing with her for fun, but now, today of all days, she’d humiliated him in front of everyone. His whole face was burning with shame and rage. But one glance at the bat in Trevor’s hand, and he swallowed it all down.
He muttered, “Sorry.”
Claudia didn’t react.
Trevor gave his brother’s collar a shake, raised the bat an inch.
Timothy flinched and barked louder this time. “I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have pushed you! I won’t do it again!”

Claudia felt like laughing out loud, but she held it in. She gave a small nod. Good enough.
Trevor let go and dropped Timothy on the floor like a bag of trash.
“Oh, and one more thing,” Trevor said, like he’d just remembered something.
He looked his idiot brother straight in the eye. “That girl from the Zach family–Summer, or whatever–don’t go near her again.”
車
“What? Why?” Timothy immediately shot back. “I’ll go along with everything else, fine. But Summer is different. I like her, okay? That’s my personal business. Don’t try to control that
too.”
Trevor let out a short laugh, the kind that made your skin crawl.
“You’re too stupid. You’ll never outplay her, One day she’s gonna chew you up and spit you out, and you’ll still be handing her money with a smile.”
“Summer’s not like that!” Timothy snapped.

Trevor didn’t bother responding. Just shook his head.

At this point, Claudia figured the family drama was heating up again and her own business here was wrapped up. She was just about to politely excuse herself when Trevor spoke first.
“Ms. Claudia, why don’t you have a seat and rest a bit. I believe… you still have something you want to ask me, don’t you?”
Since he didn’t seem to mind airing his family drama with an outsider present—and since she did have questions–Claudia nodded and walked over to the sofa without a word.
But Trevor didn’t mention Summer again.
Instead, he made a quick phone call. Within minutes, several men in black suits walked into the room.
“Take Timothy to the hospital,” he said. “If he even tries to sneak away on the way there, break his legs. I authorize it.”

Timothy looked like he wanted to scream, but didn’t dare. He was dragged away like a sack of potatoes, still casting deadly glares at Claudia as he passed the door.
She didn’t mind one bit. In fact, she smiled at him–warmly.
Thanks for the entertainment.
Shame she didn’t get the satisfaction of slapping him herself to pay him back for all the humiliation he’d dished out in the past… but hey, some things are just better when family handles it.
Now the room was quiet again. Just the two of them.
Trevor adjusted his slightly wrinkled purple suit and sat down across from her with that same calm, warm smile.
“My brother’s spoiled,” he said lightly. “Hope that didn’t give you too much of a fright, Ms. Claudia.”
Claudia smiled back politely but said nothing.
Spoiled was putting it mildly. That lunatic Timothy didn’t just cross the line–he erased it, set it on fire, and danced in the ashes.
Still, Claudia knew how to play the game. Trevor might’ve given her a show and forced an apology out of his brother, but it was also pretty obvious it was for appearances. Beat him now, no one else can say a thing later.
After all, blood was still blood.
She kept her tone courteous. “Mr. Luo, I admire your sense of justice.”
“I wouldn’t go that far,” Trevor replied, smiling faintly. “Still, I must apologize for today’s incident. That wasn’t nearly enough. I’ll make sure you’re properly compensated afterward. I hope it meets your satisfaction.”
Polished. Smooth. Not a single opening for criticism.
Clearly, he was ready to move on.
Now that things had calmed down, Claudia finally got the chance to ask the question that had

“Mr. Trevor, if I may ask… we’re not exactly close. So why invite me to something as personal as your family’s banquet?”
She hadn’t been able to make sense of it no matter how many times she thought it over.
