Just as the standoff continued, a warm male voice sounded from outside the door.

“Ms. Claudia, I didn’t see you at the banquet earlier. I thought you had left already, but it turns out you were here.”
Trevor strolled over with a pleasant smile.
Claudia’s eyes lit up at the sight of him. “Mr. Trevor, what a coincidence. I was just about to head to the banquet to look for you.”
She made to step out, but was once again blocked by Nathan.
She hadn’t expected that even with the host of the banquet present–and on the Taurine family’s turf–Nathan would still refuse to give way.
“Nathan!” Claudia’s tone grew sharp.
“What’s going on here?”
to giv
Trevor came closer, gently resting a hand on Nathan’s outstretched arm, his voice soft and smiling. “Is this how the Moore family trains its staff–to disrespect their superiors?”
Nathan, hand pressed coldly against the doorframe, replied, “Mr. Trevor, this is a Moore family matter.”
“Oh? But Ms. Claudia is a guest of the Taurine family.”
With that, Trevor gripped Nathan’s arm firmly and yanked it away from the doorway with. surprising force. “Ms. Claudia, please.”
Claudia was stunned.
She had seen Nathan deal with subordinates before. Even trained bodyguards with mercenary backgrounds couldn’t take him down–not even several at once. Yet Trevor, who always appeared gentle and refined, had just pulled him aside with one hand.
What exactly did the Taurine family do?
The question flickered through her mind and was gone. Claudia stepped out of the room.
“Thank you, Mr. Trevor.”

“No need for thanks. If someone dares bully my guest on my turf, they’re slapping me in the face.”
Trevor took out a white handkerchief and casually wiped the hand that had just removed Nathan. With a light smile, he added, “Assistant Long, do pass a message to your boss–Ms. Claudia is leaving with me.”
Nathan stood tall by the door, his voice cold. “Mr. Trevor, you know there will be consequences for today’s actions.”
Trevor’s smile didn’t waver. He tucked away the handkerchief and turned to Claudia. “Ms. Claudia, let me walk you out.”
Once the two had left, Nathan finally pulled out his phone and called Alan.
“Sir, Madam left with Trevor. I’m sorry–I couldn’t stop him.”
There was a moment of silence before Alan’s voice came through. “If it was Trevor, then it’s not your fault. Don’t blame yourself.”
“What should we do about Claudia?”
“Have someone keep an eye on her. No need to intervene. She really thinks that Trevor and the Taurine family are easy to deal with?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Mr. Trevor, I really appreciate your help tonight.”
In the parking lot, Claudia offered her thanks. But her thoughts lingered on what Nathan had said back in the lounge, and her tone grew uneasy. “Mr. Trevor, by stepping in like that… will it cause issues between you and the Moore family?”
Trevor chuckled. “Ms. Claudia, don’t overestimate your influence. This is a matter between the Taurine and Moore families. You’re not capable of stirring the pot on your own.”
Still as blunt as ever.
Claudia sighed. “…Good.”
She didn’t mind bluntness–so long as she wasn’t dragged into it.
But weren’t the Moore and Taurine elders supposed to be on friendly terms? Why did the

Especially when the Taurine family’s second son was supposedly childhood friends with Alan. Yet this eldest son, Trevor, clearly had no love lost for him.
Still, as Trevor said, she didn’t need to concern herself with the inner workings of their families.
Not that she could, even if she wanted to.
Something came to mind, and Claudia couldn’t help but ask, “Mr. Trevor, the person you mentioned before… your old friend–how has he been, these past few years?”
She still couldn’t let go.
Trevor looked at her for a few moments before replying with a gentle smile. “Ms. Claudia, you know very well that when he returns, he’ll come find you. You can see for yourself and ask him then.”
Then he added, “All I ask is that when that day comes, Ms. Claudia, don’t deceive my friend again–like you did seven years ago, thinking his kindness made him easy to lie to.”
“I didn’t…”
Claudia opened her mouth to defend herself, but couldn’t find the strength to continue.
No matter the truth, the fact remained–she had wronged him.
On the drive back to her studio, Claudia couldn’t stop thinking about everything that had happened at the banquet.
A wave of unease swirled in her chest.
One storm hadn’t even passed before another came crashing in.
Her chaotic marriage with Alan was still unresolved, and now the people who had scattered seven years ago were returning, one by one.
First Summer, now him…
It felt like they had come to demand retribution.
But in all that chaos back then, she had been the one tossed about like a helpless leaf in the

Claudia gripped the steering wheel tightly, a flash of determination in her eyes.

No matter what these returning ghosts from the past were planning, she was no longer that rootless girl from seven years ago.
She was ready to find out exactly what they wanted.
Suddenly, her phone rang inside the car.
