Chapter 15

In a fit of anger, he pressed her against the pillar and stared at her intently. “How much do

you want?”

She pushed him away, her gaze icy. “Mr. Padilla, you and I are worlds apart. Nothing else about you is even remotely up to my standards, except for your performance in bed.”

His expression darkened at once. How dare she ridicule him like this? He had never known she had such a fiery side. Otherwise, he would have made sure she suffered in bed much more…

“Are you saying no to me, Roxanne?” he sneered coldly, his tone tinged with a hint of threat.

“Yeah. Mr. Padilla, what are you gonna do about it?”

She met his gaze, unwavering. The decision to divorce had turned her heart to iron, her previous tender- ness vanishing without a trace.

She could always enrage him so easily!

His expression turned extremely grim. Suddenly, he gripped her neck and bit her rosy lip.

She widened her eyes as a sharp pain shot through her. Did he just bite her? Seriously?

Utterly furious, she slammed her knee up toward his groin. Unfortunately, he had already seen it com- ing and clamped her knee firmly.

“Roxanne, the divorce hasn’t been finalized. Don’t rile me up. Or … I don’t mind making you cry and beg again.”

His dangerous tone reached her ears, his eyes laced with lust.

She was rendered speechless for a second. What a shameless bastard!

“Let

go of me! Mr. Padilla, have you no shame?” she snarled.

He finally released her, saying, “Grandpa wants to see you at the Padilla Group’s anniversary celebra- tion. Don’t cause any trouble.”

He straightened his slightly wrinkled suit lapel, returning to his usual condescending, commanding

presence.

Windsor again.

She sneered inwardly.

It was nothing new-he had always used Windsor to manipulate her. But this would be the absolute last

time.

She took a deep breath to suppress the irritation in her heart, pulling out an impeccably perfect smile.

“Fine. I can do acting. Though I’m not a professional, I won’t humiliate you either.”

She even nodded slightly and gracefully, as if the earlier confrontation hadn’t existed.

“By the way, Mr. Padilla, stop wasting time. Ms. R would never stoop to working with you.”

After dropping the barb, she turned around and headed toward Tulip Chamber resolutely, not even turn- ing back.

He stood in place, gazing at her retreating figure until she closed the door.

He clenched his fists until veins pulsed.

“Shit!” he cursed under his breath.

She had gotten under his skin-the realization stunned him. Her arrogance was so annoying, and he even had the urge to…

He pulled out his phone and made a call. “Hold the divorce papers. Wait till after the anniversary cele- bration.”

Puzzled, Kennard quickly made a U-turn to retrieve the agreement he had just delivered.

Johnny came back to the private room. In the next second, he froze.

Milton wasn’t in there, and neither was Maryanne.

The scent of food and wine still lingered in the air.

Only Maryanne’s phone was on the table, its screen dark,

A strong sense of uneasiness instantly gripped him.

Even his heart skipped a beat.

“Maryanne?” he called out loudly.

“Maryanne!”

Silence prevailed.

His expression changed drastically as he turned around and charged out.

A few bodyguards, clad in black, stood watch at the door. The moment they saw him, they snapped to

attention.

“Where is Maryanne?” His voice was icy, laced with suppressed fury.

They exchanged glances, obviously clueless.

“Go find her!” he growled.

“Lock the entrance. Make sure you search every corner!”

The bodyguards immediately fanned out, snapping into action.

The big commotion soon attracted the attention of Oasis Club’s manager.

He trotted over, his forehead drenched in cold sweat.

“Mr. Padilla…”

Johnny looked over, his gaze razor-sharp.

“My friend’s missing.”

His tone was flat yet unmistakably commanding.

“Clear the premises. Now.”

“W-What?”
