Chapter 16

Terrified, the manager almost slumped to the floor. Clear the premises? He didn’t even dare to think of the staggering sum they’d lose. But, no matter what, he didn’t dare to say no to Johnny-the man who commanded awe throughout the entire business world.

He could only bow at Johnny with a fawning smile. “Yes, Mr. Padilla. I’m on it.”

While wiping his sweat, he braced himself and opened the door to the private room where Roxanne

was.

The atmosphere inside was slightly subtle. Marlon, holding a glass of wine, was staring at Milton across from him meaningfully. They seemed to be discussing something.

“Gentlemen, I’m really sorry for interrupting.”

The manager forced an apologetic smile, his voice slightly trembling.

“There’s an unexpected situation at the club, and I’m afraid we have to clear the premises. My sincerest apologies…”

After a pause, he added, “All of your expenses today are on the house. Again, my apologies for the in- convenience.”

Being interrupted and forced to leave, the guests in the room were all displeased.

A couple of Marlon’s friends were about to snap.

Milton’s smile vanished the second he heard the words “clear the premises”.

He instantly knew it was Johnny’s doing.

After all, Johnny was the only one who could give such an order.

What did Johnny want?

Marlon, seated at the head of the table, wore a terrifyingly grim expression. He slowly set down his glass on the table, the brisk, sharp clink echoing in the room.

He sneered, easily figuring out who was behind it.

What a pretty dirty trick.

“Mr. Padilla’s influence is surely impressive.”

He tilted his head to order Edmond, who was beside him, “Buy the club.”

His tone, though understated, carried an unmistakable pressure.

“From now on, this will be the cafeteria of the Sowle Group’s employees.”

It was an unmistakable provocation aimed directly at Johnny-a clear declaration of war.

Terrified, the manager quickly said, his voice cracking, “M-Mr. Sowle, calm down.

“Minutes ago, Mr. Padilla already merged the dining room into the Padilla Group…”

The atmosphere froze as Marlon’s gaze turned instantly chillingly razor-sharp.

Frowning, Milton stood up.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Sowle. Please wait here while I go find out what’s going on.’

He wanted to know what Johnny was really up to.

Before stepping out, he specifically instructed the manager, “No one’s allowed to interrupt the guests in this room.”

The manager nodded ceaselessly with an ingratiating smile and closed the room door.

Roxanne’s fingers holding a glass turned slightly pale.

What had gotten into Johnny?

He wanted to kick everyone out and even bought the dining room?

All she wanted was just a meal, and she ran into him and his nonsense? Just her luck.

Her chest tightened for no reason.

Meanwhile, Johnny practically kicked open a door to an employee break room.

What came into his view made his pupils shrink, and even his heart skipped a beat.

A strange man in a waiter’s uniform clamped a hand around Maryanne’s neck while pinning her against the wall. He held a fruit knife, his gaze frantic, possessive, and obsessive as he stared at her and mut- tered something incoherently.

He was an obsessive fan!

Johnny’s face turned pale at once. In the next second, a surge of fury overwhelmed him.

He lunged at the man right away.

Without giving the man time to react, he raised his leg and delivered a hard kick.

A dull thud rang out.

The man was sent flying before crashing into the wall and slipping to the floor, curling up in a ball while groaning in pain.

With a clang, the knife fell to the floor, too.

Maryanne couldn’t muster any strength at all as she collapsed to the floor. The second she saw Johnny, she burst into tears.

She scrambled into his arms and held him tightly, crying so hard that she could hardly breathe.
