Chapter 19
After remaining silent for a few seconds, Roxanne looked up, flashing him a standard, polite smile.
“Alright. You, too.”
Her smile didn’t reach her eyes.
After saying this, she turned to stride into the apartment building without hesitation.
When she returned home, the entryway light turned on automatically.
She kicked off her high heels and headed straight to the study, not even having time to change her
clothes.
Then she turned on her computer, which seemed only ordinary.
As she quickly typed, lines of complex code and medical terms popped up on the screen right away.
Unlike usual, her gaze was now focused and sharp. Anyone who saw her now would struggle to connect her with the usually timid and quiet image she projected.
The flickering screen light reflected on her face, illuminating her unreadable expression.
She quickly typed in the search bar, “Madam Osborne, a patient with mid-stage lung cancer, the latest treatment plan and clinical data analysis…”
The next morning arrived with soft sunlight and a gentle breeze.
Chloe came back in a hurry.
She called out before she even entered, “Roxy! I’m back! Come and try my mom’s food! The plane food was terrible!”
Putting down the medical book in her hand, Roxanne helplessly looked at Chloe, who rushed over and hugged her tightly.
“You just got back. And you came straight here? Shouldn’t you get some rest first?”
Chloe let go, cupped Roxanne’s face, and studied her seriously. “I see you’re recovering well. You can accompany me to go shopping this afternoon.’

Roxanne couldn’t help but chuckle. “Go shopping? It seems your business trip went well. Have you nailed the client?”
Chloe patted her chest and smiled confidently, “Hello? I just got back from Esciville. My uncle’s the mayor there. You really think there’s a client like that I can’t handle?”
She blinked triumphantly.
Roxanne pinched the bridge of her own nose while looking at Chloe. “I hope your uncle won’t regret helping you.”
Chloe pouted. “I blame my dad. He refuses to have a third child, and now I’m stuck with the whole fam- ily’s burden.”
Roxanne rolled her eyes at Chloe before heading to the dining table. “What did Belle cook for me?”
“It’s all your favorites. See? There are ribs, chicken, beef, and mushroom soup.”
The sight of the food alone made Roxanne’s mouth water. Sure enough, Belle’s cooking could conquer the world. “Belle’s the best!”
Suddenly, a shadow crossed Chloe’s features. She said, “Once I have everything prepared, I’ll go to Yarford in Estiuria.”
Roxanne fell silent for a second. Then she looked at Chloe and said seriously, “I’ll go with you.”
“Alright. Now, try the soup,” she smiled with a nod.
Roxanne knew Yarford was an open wound for the Sarratt family that would never heal. Five years ago, Chloe’s brother, Fabian Sarratt, vanished in a massive explosion there, and his body was never recov- ered. Since then, the family had sent people to search in Yarford but had found nothing. As time went by, he became the family’s taboo.
And therefore, the Sarratt family’s business empire was now solely Chloe’s duty. Her father, Marty Sar- ratt, assigned her a business manager for her to gain experience.
While eating the soup, Roxanne suddenly said, “I just remembered-Madam Osborne is sick. Do you know about this?”
“Madam Osborne?” Chloe set down the spoon, her gaze meaningful. “You mean Milton’s grandmoth-
er?”
“Yes. I heard him mention before-it’s got something to do with her lungs.”
After recalling for a bit, Chloe said, “Madam Osborne is quite nice. She always has that kind smile on

her face. I even went to her birthday party when I was little.”
A trace of nostalgia appeared on her face.
“But she’s been recuperating in the Osborne’s mansion these years and seldom goes out. Hardly anyone can see her.” Just then, she thought of something, and her eyes lit up. “Perhaps … you can help her?”
