“Congratulations, Mr. Ford.”

He spoke softly to Vivian.

Though displeased, Vivian swallowed her irritation, nodded, and turned toward the pastry section.

Her sharp eyes venomously tracked Lisa’s figure.

Aaron’s phone rang; he whispered something in Lisa’s ear. She nodded, and he walked away.

Oblivious to the surrounding noise, Lisa walked straight to the dessert table, picked up an exquisite macaron, and took a delicate bite.

“Hmm, not bad.”

She murmured to herself.

The thirty-tier champagne tower, a glittering pyramid of crystal-clear glasses, reflected the banquet hal- I’s dazzling chandeliers-a kaleidoscopic visual feast.

Lisa stood nearby, holding a juice glass, idly watching the liquid swirl inside.

Suddenly.

Without warning.

The towering symbol of luxury and celebration emitted a sickening creak.

Then, before anyone could react, it collapsed with a thunderous crash!

Raining down directly toward her position!

“Ah-!”

Screams instantly shattered the elegant atmosphere.

Countless glasses plummeted like hail, shards refracting deadly glints under the lights as they showered toward Lisa!

Too close.

She stood perilously near that deathly tower!

Lisa’s mind went blank, her body frozen in terror, sheer panic gripping her.

Vivian’s eyes widened with excitement, anticipating Lisa’s lovely face and snow-white back becoming torn and bloodied…

A tall, imposing figure flashed by at lightning speed…

At that very instant!

From the crowd, two tall figures shot like arrows through the chaos, racing toward her!

Time stretched endlessly.

The expected sharp pain never came.

Just before the glass shower hit, she glimpsed a figure in white…

Then a broad, warm chest slammed against her back, pulling her tightly into an embrace.

The crushing impact stole her breath, yet brought unshakable security.

Deafening shatters of glass echoed around them, muffled by the barrier between.

That person shielded her with his own body.

As the chaos faded, Lisa trembled and slowly opened her eyes.

Aaron’s chiseled jawline filled her vision, his deep eyes blazing with naked worry.

His arms locked around her like steel, scorching heat bleeding through her thin dress.

“Are you hurt?”

His voice rasped from exertion as his gaze swept over her, scanning for injuries.

“Where does it hurt?

Tell me.”

Lisa shook her head, still trembling from the shock.

Just then, Vivian’s tearful cry pierced the air.

“Alexander!”

Lisa turned toward the sound, her heart seizing.

Vivian clung to Alexander’s chest, weeping pitifully while gripping his arm.

“You’re bleeding!

Alexander, your hand’s injured!”

Blood welled from gashes across Alexander’s left hand and forearm, staining his expensive white suit.

The glass shards sliced fabric so easily-had they hit skin, it’d be a bloody mess.

“Wuwu… I’m sorry, Alexander…”

Vivian sobbed dramatically, gasping for breath.

“It’s my fault… I stood too close… You got hurt saving me…

She cradled his injured hand, tears streaming down her cheeks.

Lisa stared blankly at Alexander, two steps away.

He too… had charged toward this spot.

Just as fast as Aaron.

For one heartbeat, she’d dared to hope-a fragile, secret longing.

Now reality slapped her hard.

His desperate sprint… had never been for her.

Only for Vivian, the one who owned his heart.

Even with her in danger, he saw only Vivian.

Countless needles stabbed Lisa’s heart, spreading dull agony that choked her breath.

His bravery… had never included her.

Alexander’s gaze swept over Vivian’s head, landing on Lisa.

Seeing her safe in Aaron’s arms, the flicker of panic in his eyes died, leaving bottomless calm.

He never even asked if she was okay.

Then he lowered his head, his tone softer than Lisa had ever heard. With his uninjured hand, he patted Vivian’s back soothingly:

“Don’t cry, I’m fine.”

After a pause, he added, “As long as you’re okay.”

As long as you’re okay.

The words struck Lisa like a slap across the face.

A stinging pain.

Andrew rushed over, anxiety written across his features:

“Mr. Alexander, you’re hurt! Come with me to the medical room immediately.”

Alexander nodded, allowing Andrew to carefully support his injured arm.

Before turning away, he didn’t even glance at Lisa.

The company’s general manager Mr. Andrew also hurried over.

While directing staff to clear the debris, he loudly reassured the shaken guests:

“Ladies and gentlemen, our sincerest apologies for this minor incident! Please remain calm!”

“We’ve got everything under control. Kindly proceed to the lounge area…”

Lisa’s gaze

remained fixed on Alexander’s retreating figure until he vanished around the corner.

The tightness in her chest didn’t ease-instead, it intensified.

She knew with painful clarity that something had shattered along with that champagne tower.

Shattered completely.

Beyond repair,

Soon, the scene was restored, showing no trace of the earlier accident.

Vivian reappeared in the banquet hall, striding directly toward Lisa.
