Chapter42
She frantically grabbed tissues, clumsily wiping the wet stain on his chest with urgent, fumbling move-
ments.
Alexander lowered his gaze to his shirt, then lifted his eyes to her panicked face.
“It’s fine.”
His tone remained flat, revealing no emotion.
“I’ll change.”
With that, he turned and strode toward the private lounge nearby.
Lisa’s heart hammered.
Change clothes?
Here?
Instinctively, she scanned for hiding spots, but the spacious lounge offered nothing beyond the pristine bed and a massive wardrobe packed with clothes–nowhere to hide!
Even the corner shower boasted a sleek fully transparent glass design.
In desperation, she darted into the shadows beside the towering wardrobe, pressing herself against the cold cabinet doors and holding her breath.
The lounge door stood slightly ajar.
Alexander entered, casually shedding the coffee–stained shirt to reveal sculpted shoulders and a muscu- lar back gleaming with a healthy bronze hue under the lights.
Lisa stole a fleeting glance before jerking her head away, cheeks burning.
Guilty,
Utterly guilty,
He pulled a crisp black shirt from the wardrobe and began buttoning it methodically.

Just then, the door creaked open.
Vivian slipped in, her face flushed with lingering alarm and… deliberate coyness.
Without a word, she stepped forward and boldly wrapped her arms around Alexander’s waist from be- hind, pressing her cheek against his broad back.
“Alexander…”
Her voice dripped with honeyed sweetness.
“Don’t you love me?”
Alexander’s fingers paused on a button.
He didn’t turn.
“Of course.”
His reply was calm, almost matter–of–fact.
Vivian tightened her embrace, burying her face deeper.
“Then why…”
A note of hurt confusion crept into her tone.
“…do you keep rejecting me?
Don’t… don’t you want me?”
The air thickened.
Alexander remained silent, offering no immediate answer.
Hidden beside the wardrobe, Lisa’s heart pounded like a drum, threatening to leap from her throat.
Then came Vivian’s voice, laced with desperate resolve: “I want to be yours!”
She even lifted Alexander’s limp hand and guided it around her slender waist.
Alexander stiffened slightly.
Gently freeing himself, he turned to face her.
“My marriage isn’t over yet.”

His eyes were unreadable pools.
“Wait a little longer.”
Vivian gazed up, eyes glistening, but nodded fiercely.
“Okay.”
She sniffled, voice trembling. “I’ll wait forever, Alexander. However long it takes.”
Lisa’s mouth twisted. Her ears practically rusted shut!

She vividly recalled Alexander’s ironclad declaration not long ago: he and Vivian had never been in- volved.
Never.
Hah.
Maybe… that would change very soon.
Thump, thump, thump!
A frantic knocking shattered the intimate atmosphere in the lounge.
“Mr. Ford?
Mr. Ford, are you in there?”
Andrew’s voice crackled with urgency.
He’d pushed open the outer office door to find it empty, sending a jolt of panic through him.
Now he was hammering on this door, his knocking growing more desperate as he realized all three were inside.
His voice pitched higher with alarm.
“Mr. Ford, the guest is here!
The important guest is waiting in the conference room!
She’s arrived!
She’s already here!”

Alexander frowned, pulling open the lounge door while swiftly fastening the last button of his shirt.
Andrew stood panting in the doorway, sweat beading his forehead.
His gaze slid past Alexander, landing on Vivian just a step behind him.

Vivian stood with slightly bowed head, flushed cheeks and evasive eyes radiating unmistakable post–in- timacy shyness.
Andrew froze.
Holy shit?
What the hell?
Vivian… she actually pulled it off!
!
He’d only stepped out for five minutes–instructing the secretary and grabbing coffee.
Mr. Ford entered the lounge… Miss Jiang followed… and now… this?
A bombshell gossip detonated in Andrew’s mind.
No way?
The boss… that fast?
Over in minutes?
His thoughts raced to Mr. Ford’s ongoing divorce.
Could it be… because the boss… couldn’t satisfy his wife?
Is that why she’s dead set on leaving?
And now, whether to prove he “still got it” or just a reckless moment, he’d been with Miss Jiang…
But the wife wasn’t hiding inside too, was she?
They couldn’t have done this right in front of her…
Andrew shuddered, cutting off the horrifying thought.
The overload of information made his brain short–circuit.

Alexander ignored Andrew’s rapidly shifting expressions.
He turned his head slightly toward Vivian. “Wait here for me.”
Then he strode past, long legs carrying him directly toward Conference Room 3.
Andrew snapped back to attention, professionalism kicking in.
He couldn’t let Vivian linger and complicate things–not with the wife still possibly…
Thinking fast, he plastered on an enthusiastic grin, leaning toward Vivian conspiratorially.
“Miss Jiang.”
He dropped his voice to a theatrical whisper.
“Did you know?
