Chapter56
He barged in, icy fury radiating from his sharp features, eyes blazing.
His accusation hung heavy.
Lisa rested her throbbing head against the door, irritation flaring at his nonsensical question.
She assumed he meant burning Memorial Pavilion last night. Didn’t he gift it to her?
Since when did she need permission?
Worth this confrontation?
Small fire, big spectacle.
A tired smirk touched her lips. No energy for arguments.
“Yeah, I did.”
“You already knew.”
“Too many witnesses. Can’t deny it.”
Her flat tone suggested she was discussing someone else’s drama.
Alexander’s chest heaved, fury peaking.
“Lisa!”
His roar made veins pulse at his temples. “You hate me this much?
Want to destroy everything Vivian and I built?”
Lisa froze!
So he finally admitted Lily Garden was built for Vivian.
And he’d gifted it to her?
To humiliate whom?
Only a true bastard could pull such crap…

His shout left her ears ringing. She massaged her temples.
A hollow laugh escaped her, eyes cold and mocking.
“Does that hurt?”
“Alexander, don’t you see how ridiculous you are?”
She turned away, voice frail. “Just leave. I’m dizzy. Not fighting.”
He stepped closer instead, his imposing frame casting a shadow over her.
“Lisa, I underestimated you!”
“I thought signing divorce papers so readily meant you’d moved on. No more games.”
He ground his teeth. “But you were saving this!”
“You want to ruin Vivian. Want to see me suffer. Make me pay. Isn’t that it?”
Lisa’s mind spun louder. None of this made sense.
Burning Lily Garden hurt him?
Damn it… should’ve burned it sooner!
She braced hard against the armrest, struggling to stand.
“Alexander, what’s your problem?”
“Get out!”

“Whatever happens between you and Vivian–getting married or having kids–it’s none of my busi-
ness!”
“None of your business?”
Alexander sneered, his gaze sharp as knives. “Lisa, you’re quite the actress!”
“Lisa, your tricks are downright pathetic!”
“You think this low tactic is amusing revenge?”
“Listen here, destroying Vivian won’t be that easy!”
Every word pierced Lisa’s heart like poisoned ice shards.

His handsome face blurred before her eyes.
“Do whatever you want. Just… leave… now.”
She pointed toward the door.
Her dismissive tone made Alexander grab her wrist violently.
“Lisa, you—”
His words died abruptly.
The skin beneath his palm burned frighteningly hot.
Was she ill?
The pain from his grip and her physical discomfort shattered her composure.
She wrenched her hand free, swaying unsteadily.
“Alexander, it’s over.”
Her voice cracked, tears choking her words as she screamed with all her strength:
“I don’t love you anymore!”
“Truly, not anymore!”
“Twelve years of this–it’s long enough!”
“Now get out!”
Before the echo faded, everything went black as she collapsed.
“Lisa!”
Alexander’s pupils constricted sharply!
The marriage license, Vivian, his fury–all vanished instantly.

Without hesitation, he ripped off his tailored suit jacket, wrapped her limp body tightly, and swept her
into his arms.
She felt weightless, yet scorching heat radiated through the thin fabric.
Holding her, he stormed downstairs.

Reporters swarmed the lobby like piranhas.
Camera flashes exploded, blindingly intense.
“Mr. Ford! Is that Mrs. Ford in your arms?”
“Is the marriage license rumor true?”
“Mr. Ford, are you and Miss Vivian staging publicity?”
Questions crashed over him like waves.
Alexander’s face hardened. He shielded Lisa’s face with his jacket, blocking the lenses.
An icy aura rolled off him as his gaze sliced through the crowd.
Four bodyguards shoved through, forcing a path open.
Alexander charged into the waiting car with Lisa.
The door thudded shut, silencing the chaos.

Inside, Lisa lay unconscious in his arms–paper–pale, lips bloodless, only her cheeks burning crimson.
Alexander stared at her fragility. Worry drowned his anger.
Her last words echoed:
Twelve years–what did she mean?
They’d only met before the wedding!
He touched her forehead. Scorching.
His throat tightened as he growled at the driver:
“Faster!”
At Central Hospital, Alexander sprinted through the doors.
The driver called Andrew while guards secured the entrance.
Four ER doctors scrambled–thermometers, blood draws.

“41.2°C! Why wait so long? Cool her now!”
Alexander stood rooted beside her.
Only after stabilization and paperwork came the VIP suite.
He signed “spouse” on the form. The word stung his eyes.
Soon, Lisa lay in the suite. He perched on her bedside.
Watching the IV drip into her veins twisted his gut.
She stirred, murmuring:
“Big brother… don’t leave!”
“Big brother… when will you come back?”
Dreaming? Who was this “big brother“?
Aaron?
He hunched over, clasping her hand, smoothing her hair. Whispered: “Lisa.”
A frown. A tear streaked down her temple.
It branded his heart.
Knuckles rapped the door. Andrew entered, holding a gourmet bag.
“Mr. Ford, Victor’s at the office. Waiting for you.”
Alexander resumed his cold expression. “Stay here and look after her. Notify me when she wakes up.”
