Chapter62
His face turned ashen!
This boss was hopeless. How could he… how dare he…
He felt like phlegm was stuck in his chest.
Suffocating!
“Get out of here, stop being an eyesore. We’re checking out.”
Matthew dismissed him without mercy!
Andrew hurried to suck up. “I’ll handle Mrs. Ford’s discharge paperwork.”
“Don’t bother. Wait downstairs. Your boss will probably ask you to admit that drama queen soon.”
Matthew deliberately shoved past him, heading out.
Andrew took two steps forward, wanting to defend his boss.
Suddenly, his phone rang. It was the boss calling.
Lisa said calmly, “Go ahead.”
Andrew nodded and quickly turned to leave.
Lisa and Matthew slipped out through the underground parking,

carefully avoiding reporters.
After all, Vivian’s latest stunt had thrust Lisa back into the center of
the storm.
The sky had completely darkened, not a single star visible in the indigo curtain.
Lisa returned home, the entryway light off, changing her shoes in the
dark.
The living room was pitch black.
Originally Matthew had wanted to accompany her back, but she refused.
With that kid around, she’d probably end up in bed all day tomorrow.
She took out her phone.
The screen lit up, showing over a dozen missed calls from Aaron.
Her fingertip swiped across the screen, and she called back.
The call connected almost immediately.
“Lisa?”
Aaron’s voice held a barely detectable tension.
“I’m sorry.”
Lisa’s voice was soft, carrying a hint of hoarseness after the fever broke, “I had a bit of a fever today, slept it off, and it’s gone now.”

“Good that you’re okay. Have you had dinner?
I’m nearby, I can swing by with some food.”
His voice grew a bit urgent.
“I’m not hungry. Get some rest, Aaron.”
Lisa paused after speaking, then added, “I’ll go to the company tomorrow.”
Hanging up, she turned on a light on the balcony, walked straight out, and looked up at the crescent moon.
The evening breeze, carrying a chill, brushed her cheeks.
She lifted her gaze to the brightly lit skyscraper in the distance, standing in the night like a silent giant beast.
Her eyes fixed on it, gradually losing focus, becoming hollow and dim.
She couldn’t quite figure out what kind of person Alexander was.
The argument at noon was still vivid in her mind, yet by afternoon he seemed like a different person.
She couldn’t tell which one was the real him.
Downstairs.
A Maybach sat quietly in the shadows.
Aaron stood by the car, head raised, his gaze locked on the balcony with its faint white light.

The night blurred his handsome features, leaving only a deep shadow.
Suddenly, a line of poetry came to mind: You watch the scenery from the bridge, while the scenery watcher watches you from downstairs.
Perhaps it spoke of this very feeling.
Bitter!
The night completely swallowed the city.
Central Hospital, VIP suite.
The air was thick with the smell of disinfectant, but it was mostly masked by the expensive fragrance in the room.
The doctor had just finished a full checkup for Vivian and was reporting to Alexander standing nearby.
“Mr. Ford, Miss Campbell is fine. All indicators are normal. Rest tonight, and she can be discharged tomorrow.”
The doctor tactfully withdrew.
The room was left with only Alexander and Vivian lying in the hospital bed.
Vivian’s face was pale, her eyes red and swollen. She reached out a trembling hand and gently tugged Alexander’s sleeve.
“Alexander, I’m sorry…” Her voice was tearful, broken and pitiful.

“I shouldn’t have troubled you. Really, I just… I just wanted to leave quietly alone.”
She sniffled, tears falling again.
“I don’t know… why Lisa just won’t let me go.
The fan appreciation event, that was my moment to shine. If she hates me, she could have told me privately. How could she…”
Alexander said gently, “I’ll look into this.
Don’t overthink it.”
Vivian froze. Could it not have been Lisa?
Or was he deliberately protecting her?
That must be Matthew–they’re all in cahoots.
་་
“It’s all my fault. I couldn’t help wanting to stay by your side.
If I’d been more sensible, none of this would’ve happened.”
She choked back a sob before continuing,
“Dad’s company… it’s about to collapse. Mom has a distant cousin who worked at Royal Estate. Just because she accidentally offended Miss Lisa, she was… was sent to the police station…”
“I know she hates me. She should come after me! Why target my family?”
Her voice trembled with rising agitation, her body shaking.

Alexander pulled a chair beside the bed and sat down.
He watched her in silence.
Vivian grew uneasy under his gaze, her small fists clenching.
Finally, Alexander spoke, his tone unnervingly calm.
“Don’t overthink it.”
“Leave these matters to me.”
He reached out, gently patting her hand in reassurance.
