Chapter 75
Andrew added grimly, “Also… regarding Patricia, we arrived too late. Aaron’s men took her first. They’re likely returning to the city now.”
Aaron!
Alexander’s eyes turned dangerously dark.
Patricia ending up in Aaron’s hands was definitely not good news. Aaron would surely try every means to extract information from her, and might even…use her to gain Lisa’s sympathy.
“Where is he now?”
Andrew quickly replied, “We’ve kept it confidential, but he still found out you saved Mrs. Ford. He’s on his way here now!”
Alexander’s eyes darkened. Trying to snatch someone from him?
Wishful thinking!
“Get the helicopter ready,” Alexander ordered Andrew, his voice icy. “I’m taking her to Riverside Manor to recuperate. Keep this under wraps.”
Andrew paused briefly before responding, “Yes, Mr. Ford.”
He immediately pulled out his phone to make arrangements.
Alexander felt agitated and turned to step outside for a smoke.

Andrew watched the two seeming as incompatible as oil and water. If this continued, their flickering flame would be snuffed out again.
He turned and walked toward the patient ward.
After knocking, he entered the room. Lisa leaned against the door, snapping coldly without turning:
“Alexander, I said I don’t want to see you!”
“Mrs. Ford!”
Andrew called out softly.
Only then did Lisa turn around. Seeing it was Andrew, her anger subsided somewhat. “Did he send you?”
Andrew took two steps forward, looking intently at Lisa.
Today, he decided to lay it all on the line!
“Madam, are you feeling alright?
Yesterday when Alexander saw you faint with fever, he worried all night. I’ve never seen him…”
“Andrew, don’t defend him. You know better than me who he truly loves.
I should be grateful… he saved me last night. But compared to the pain
he caused…”
Lisa took a deep breath, her eyes red and frosty, suddenly losing the strength to speak.

Her body trembled slightly–whether from last night’s terror or her wounds‘ ache.
Or because… her heart was breaking!
Andrew immediately knew her anguish, swiftly handing her a tissue.
“Last night, Matthew stormed into the Nightclub screaming at Alexander. That’s how he learned about your miscarriage. He ordered the culprit hunted down immediately, to get justice for you.
Honestly, he was devastated too—I saw tears in his eyes.
When he saw your car burned to ashes, he nearly lost his mind.
He insisted you must be nearby, mobilized round–the–clock search teams across thirty–three villages, and luckily… rescued you in time!”
Andrew witnessed it all–sometimes outsiders see clearest.
Lisa froze, the hatred in her heart easing slightly. Without him, she might’ve truly… died!
Yet she couldn’t forgive him freeing the one who harmed their child.
“Patricia was released because Vivian claimed she’d only made a small mistake, so Alexander didn’t investigate further.
He’s already sent men to the provincial city to hunt Patricia down. Even at earth’s end, she won’t escape. He’ll never spare those who hurt you!”
Lisa stayed silent, her heart still heavy.

Andrew produced a tablet, opening the video he’d longed to show her.
“Madam, watch this!”
Lisa took the tablet. The footage showed the Ford Family’s anniversary gala, zooming in on a towering champagne pyramid.
[Crash!]
The shattering glass still echoed in her ears.
On screen, the pyramid collapsed. Shards and wine flew as chaos erupted.
She saw.
Amidst screaming crowds, two figures raced toward her against the tide.
One was Alexander–closest to her.
He reached out… not to shove or dodge, but to shield her face.
She saw glass shards [thud! thud! thud!] against his arm, blood blooming.
Crimson instantly soaked his white suit.
The other was Aaron.
He followed instantly, yanking her into his arms, shielding her with his body,
The frame shook, then froze on Alexander’s embrace.

Vivian rushed to Alexander first, burrowing into his arms, weeping pitifully to steal every gaze,
Those fleeting seconds.
Lisa’s heart clenched by an invisible fist.
Aching. Dull, heavy pain.
So… so at that moment, he rushed over to save her!
Alexander, that man who felt nothing for her, actually stretched out his hand to shield her from deadly shards during her most perilous
moment!
She stared fixedly at Alexander’s outstretched hand on the screen, that bloodstained scene burning into her mind like a brand.
She’d always believed him cold–hearted, indifferent to her survival, convinced Vivian was the only one in his eyes.
Yet the footage tore apart her self–righteous “truth.”
Then what about his later coldness?
What about the distance in his gaze?
What about him choosing Vivian without hesitation?
“Madam, look.”
Andrew’s voice sounded, tinged with caution. “Alexander has always cared deeply about you, Madam. He just never says it.”

Lisa stayed silent, her fingertip lightly tracing Alexander’s injured spot
on the screen.
That blood was real.
That pain was real too.
“He suffered more than anyone seeing you hurt.”
