Chapter 84
Though quiet, the words burned with finality.
Alexander gave her one deep, unreadable look, eyes shadowed.
Without another word, he turned and strode out coldly.
Bang! The door shut.
Severing two worlds.
Alexander leaned against the hallway wall, the alcohol hitting harder
now.
He closed his eyes, but the images flooded back uncontrollably-
That expanse of white, the wet black hair, her panicked yet defiant
eyes.
Heat coiled low in his body.
Damn it.
He cursed under his breath, ripping off his tie and tossing it aside.
That moment had ignited a fuse deep within him.
Long–suppressed desires surged up; it’d been too long since he’d touched her.

He couldn’t sleep.
Lying in his own bed, he tossed and turned.
In the darkness, his eyes stayed wide open, devoid of sleepiness.
His mind was a tangled mess, filled entirely with her image.
Later, he seemed to drift off.
In that hazy state between sleep and wakefulness, he felt transported back to the Royal Estate.
Back then, he had her at his beck and call, indulging freely.
The dream scenes were chaotic yet intimate.
Her gasps, her yielding, her struggles… those long–buried fragments of memory now became painfully vivid.
The more reckless he’d been then, the more torment he felt now, his body’s craving warring with reason’s resistance.
This night was destined to be agonizing.
The next morning
Alexander descended the stairs with dark circles under his eyes, an aura of frost clinging to him.
Lisa and Emily were having breakfast, the two girls chattering away.
“Hey Alexander.”

Emily turned and called out.
The moment Lisa saw his icy expression, she fell silent, still carrying a hint of yesterday’s awkwardness.
She lowered her head to sip her oatmeal congee, pretending not to see
him.
Emily seemed to notice something off and spoke to him.
“Brother, it’s the weekend and the Manor Estate harvest day. Why don’t you take Sis and me horseback riding?”
She suggested.
Lisa immediately shook her head like a toy rattle, “I can’t ride. I won’t go.”
Emily shook her arm gently, “Sis.”
“Don’t touch her left hand.”
Alexander shot her a sharp glance, his voice stern.
Emily paled slightly, frightened. “Sorry, Sis, I forgot. I’ll sit on your right from now on.”
Lisa quickly reassured her, “It’s fine, doesn’t hurt!”
“Then come riding with me! The Manor Estate harvest day is so lively, only once a year. The orchard fruits are all ripe.”
Lisa found it appealing, but remembered her injuries.

“We’re going!”
Alexander declared. If she didn’t want to go, he’d make sure she did.
After breakfast, Emily helped Lisa outside where three grooms stood waiting with three magnificent horses.
Two black, one white.
Lisa stared at the towering, snow–white steed before her–a magnificent creature.
Her eyes were practically glued to it, wonder plain on her face.
So beautiful!
Glistening coat, sleek lines, radiating power.
“Sis likes this one? Then I’ll take the black!”
Emily finished speaking and swung onto her horse’s back with practiced ease.
“I can’t ride, you go ahead! My foot’s injured anyway.”
Lisa shook her head again and turned to leave!
A pang of regret shot through her.
Alexander saw right through her.
Without a word, he carefully lifted her, settling her securely onto the broad saddle.

“Ah!”
She gasped. The saddle was soft and comfortable, but she wobbled slightly.
Alexander took the reins, movements deft.
“Hold on tight.”
His voice was low but carried a tone that brooked no argument. “Don’t
put weight on your left hand. Keep your injured foot still.”
He instructed meticulously, considering every detail for her.
Lisa gripped the saddle’s front pommel, still tense!
“But I don’t know how to ride!”
“Sis, don’t be nervous. Hold the reins tight. We’ll go slow, like riding in a carriage!
You’ll be safe!”
Emily reassured her.
Finally, Lisa nodded, offering a smile light as a breeze.
Alexander paused while adjusting the reins. How long had it been since he’d seen her smile like that?
His gaze unconsciously softened, that tenderness escaping even his
own notice.
Suddenly, his phone rang, turning him away to answer.

Emily guided Lisa to steady the reins as both horses ambled forward.
Glancing back at Alexander still on the call,
a faint curve touched Emily’s lips.
Without warning, she raised her riding crop and cracked it hard against Lisa’s horse.
CRACK-
The startled horse let out a sharp whinny and bolted forward.
“AH!
Em!
Help!
I can’t ride!”
Lisa’s scream pierced the air, thick with terror.
Both Fell Off Horse into Water
Emily reined in her horse, watching the runaway steed carry Lisa further away, her smirk deepening.
She snorted coldly in her heart.
Sister Vivian, if this woman could just fall to her death–a beginner riding such a spirited horse, she’d be crippled even if she survived.
