Chapter 3
Dylan Martinez jumped at his uncle’s roar, instinctively dropping the rope. He’d been terrified of this stern-faced uncle, Raymond Martinez, since childhood.
But spotting Grandpa Aaron Martinez behind Raymond, Dylan regained his composure. As the only grandson in the Martinez family, he was cherished like the apple of his eye.
He rushed to hug Grandpa Aaron, theatrically wiping fake tears. “Grandpa, I’ve missed you so much these three years.’
Amy Martinez stepped forward. As an adopted daughter, she lacked Dylan’s closeness to Grandpa Aaron, standing aside as she said:
“Grandpa, Dylan and I know we were wrong. He decided to return and marry Miss Elizabeth. But we never expected…”
Dylan spat with venom, “That bitch had the audacity to cheat on me! She tried passing off some bastard as a Martinez heir!”
“But don’t worry, Grandpa. I took care of that bastard in her belly. The Martinez name won’t be tar- nished!”
Grandpa Aaron shoved Dylan aside, finally seeing me lying barely breathing by the pool.
Raymond dashed to me, hands trembling as he untied the ropes. Seeing my lower body bleeding pro- fusely, his voice shook.
“Elizabeth? Can you hear me?”
I met Raymond’s gaze, tears streaming. “Raymond… the baby… save our baby…”
Grandpa Aaron stared in disbelief, then struck Dylan hard with his cane. “You monster! What have you done?!”
Dylan dodged while glaring at me. “Grandpa, that whore Elizabeth wore the Martinez name but made me a cuckold! She fooled you and Uncle! I never touched her! That wasn’t my child!”
Amy chimed in, “It’s true, Grandpa. Dylan and I just returned today. Her belly was already six or seven months along-definitely some random bastard.’

Grandpa Aaron swung his cane at Amy. “That child wasn’t a bastard. It was Martinez blood.”
Dylan shouted, “How?! I never slept with her!”
Raymond lifted my bleeding body, kicked Dylan to the ground, and fixed him and Amy with a murder-
ous gaze.
“If anything happens to Elizabeth or our child, I’ll take your lives!”
He carried me swiftly toward the hospital.
Dylan froze under his uncle’s lethal aura, only breathing deeply after Raymond left.
“Grandpa… has Uncle lost his mind?
How could he threaten my life over that slut and her bastard?”
Amy whispered, “Dylan… what if this is Elizabeth and Uncle’s scheme? Uncle can’t have children… so they used her bastard to steal your inheritance?”
Dylan whirled toward Grandpa Aaron. “Grandpa, you must defend me! All Martinez assets are mine! They can’t go to outsiders!”
Seeing both remained clueless even now, Grandpa Aaron angrily rapped his cane against Dylan’s head.
“After being smart all my life, how could I have such a foolish offspring like you.’
“The baby in Elizabeth’s womb isn’t a bastard. That’s Raymond’s child.”
