“But a kiss is a kiss. How can you compare it to mouth–to–mouth resuscitation?”
Joaquin’s lips curled into a smile that was utterly captivating.
Romina had never seen Joaquin like this before.
They had been spending time together quite frequently lately, and he wasn’t nearly as stern and unsmiling as the rumors suggested.
“Let’s just call it an accident. I will remember your words and never drink again.” Romina didn’t dare continue tangling with him. “Lina is still waiting for me at home. I need to go make her dinner. Mr. Bowman, goodbye…‘

Without waiting for a response, she dashed into the house.
The man watched her retreating figure, the curve of his lips lingering for a long time.
Really…
She’s getting more and more interesting.
After Romina got home, her mind was filled with the words Joaquin had said.
She never would have imagined that she had actually kissed Joaquin that night!
Aside from Jericho, she had never been so intimate with another man.
And this man…

Was actually Jericho’s uncle.
Just thinking about it was enough to blow her mind.
At that moment, images of the two of them kissing flashed through her mind.
Romina instinctively shook her head, trying to drive those wild images
out of her mind.
“Romi, why are you shaking your head while chopping vegetables? Anyone who didn’t know better would think you were drunk.”
A familiar voice suddenly called out from the kitchen doorway.
Romina was startled, her body involuntarily trembling.
Turning around and seeing Elliana’s curious gaze, she steadied herself and said, “Nothing, I was just thinking about something!”
“What could you be thinking about that makes you shake your head like that? You really haven’t been drinking, have you?”
Elliana quickly approached, instinctively sizing her up.
Hearing the words ‘drunk‘, Romina’s mind once again conjured up a certain scene, and her face flushed red.
“I haven’t! How could I possibly be drunk at a time like this?”
Elliana teased her with a laugh, “You really do look it, though. Your face is as red as an apple.”
Romina instinctively nudged her arm, trying to change the subject: “Stop messing around, I have something serious to tell you.”
“What is it?”

Elliana walked over to the sink and started helping her pick vegetables.
Romina spoke frankly, “Joaquin just came by. He said he wants to make Lina his goddaughter.”
Elliana’s hand paused mid–motion: “Why?”
Taking advantage of a break in chopping vegetables, Romina explained the whole story in detail.
“If that’s the case, it’s actually a good thing. If Lina has Joaquin backing her, she could walk all over Straland and no one would dare say a word.”
Romina let out a husky laugh, but didn’t respond.
“Why are you laughing? Joaquin’s power in Straland’s business world is top–tier. Compared to him, your husband is still lacking.”
“Let me correct you.” Romina’s expression darkened. “You should use the word ‘ex–husband.‘ Even though we haven’t signed the papers yet, in my heart, we’re already divorced.”
“Sorry.” Elliana instinctively reached out, gently stroking her back. “Slip of the tongue, slip of the tongue…”
Romina put the diced carrots into the plate, saying nothing.
“But it’s been so long, why hasn’t that jerk signed the papers yet? He’s slower than squeezing toothpaste…”
“He’s always using Grandpa’s poor health to pressure me, but it’s true- Grandpa has always opposed our divorce.”
Elliana was very agitated: “Just force him to sign first! Grandpa’s issues
are minor!”

“Alright.” Romina nodded gently. “I’ll go see him tomorrow.”
“That’s more like it.” Elliana gave her a thumbs up. “Our Romina always gets things done.”
Romina let out a husky laugh, not responding further.
The next day was a workday. Romina guessed Jericho would be at the Bowman Group and planned to talk to him about the divorce in person.
Just as she reached the door, she saw through the half–open crack that Nadine was sitting on the man’s lap.
Her arms were wrapped around Jericho’s neck, her tone coquettish: “Jericho, there’s a cocktail party tomorrow. Will you go with me?”
Romina was just about to listen to the man’s response when a voice from behind interrupted her: “Ms. Sandoval, why didn’t you let me know in advance that you were coming?”
Romina turned around at the sound and saw Orion, who had appeared behind her without her noticing.
The two people inside the room naturally heard the commotion outside the door as well.
Reluctantly, Nadine got up from the man’s lap and asked in a low voice. “Orion, who’s outside?”
“Mr. Jericho, it’s Ms. Sandoval. Are you available now…”
Before Orion could finish his sentence, the door was suddenly pushed open by Romina.
Jericho looked up and saw Romina walking in with a composed demeanor, taking a seat directly on the sofa.
