Chapter 237 Recruits.
Colin POV
Ah the life of a miserable human, the joy of it, always working and always pushing ahead, trying to stay alive, you think you won’t die from hunger? I know some people who died from hunger, it’s easy, you work, you earn, you eat. You don’t, you are broke, you starve, and that’s how life goes on, we’re not wolves, we don’t have the security of a pack to help us through, to push us forward, I’ve been working since the day I was fourteen, I had a job after school every single day, I wish I could say that I have went to college and worked my way there, but I didn’t, I dropped out of high school and was unable to continue, and I became a mechanic, a damn good one as well.
I work in a shop owned by wolves, they always treated me well, they always talked about their pack, how they all live together and how they take good care of each other. All of my knowledge of wolves came from my three bosses who happen to be siblings who own the shop, they run patrol, they have mates and kids of their own, they live for a very long time, almost immortal.
“Can a human join your pack?” I asked them one day I was fascinated with them, with their lives and I wanted to join.
“Well not in ours, unless if you’re a mate of a wolf, that’s when you get taken in, adopted,” one of my bosses say making me frown, from that day, every night, I dream of joining a wolf pack, I did a lot of research and saw that some pack do have humans as well in their ranks and not just wolves.

I’ve been hoping and praying that one day a pack will allow me in, and I still said that prayer every night, while I went to work, came back home, I was trying to live my life with the limited resources I had, I even tried to find a girlfriend, but that didn’t work at all, every girl I met was either too sick in the head, too crazy, or dreaming of becoming a wolf mate and she doesn’t want anything to do with me. It’s impossible to find someone as they you expect to be a millionaire, although they do know that we are offered the same chances in life, and we don’t have many opportunities and they still want us to be something.
I lived in a house with roommates, it’s the only way to afford this place and still have money for food and other stuff in life, I got up as always got ready and went to work, I got there early, we’ve been working on a stubborn Honda that has an oil incontinence, and it won’t stop no matter how hard we tried, I was so close to giving up, I don’t know what happened here, but it’s all cause of a bored wolf who decided to pull a prank using his wolf claws.
“Damn it,” I groaned, it’s still leaking, every time I fix one point, another start.
“Colin,” I heard my name being called but I ignored it, this car is driving me insane.
“Colin!” my name was called again with more urgency this time, and I still ignored it.
“Colin, get your ass here before I come and get you,” this time there was a threat and a warning with my name, so I got out from
underneath the Honda who’s going to need a diaper, and went toward my boss, to see what they need.
“Yes?” I say, with a shrug, like I haven’t been ignoring them.

“It’s your lucky day, pup,” my oldest boss says.
“How come? I won the lottery?” I ask him.
“The wolf loto, yes,” the middle boss says, I never bothered learning their name, they like being called Boss and that’s it.
“Wolf loto? Those exist?” I ask, confused.
“You always wanted to be one, do you still do?” he asks and I nod, I still pray every night for that.
“I do,” I say out loud.
“A pack is recruiting,” he says.
“Recruiting? They do that?” I say, never heard of it.
“In very rare occasions, it’s a new alpha, they killed all the old dominants, they want new ones, and they don’t mind having humans as well,” he says.
“Killed?” I say, that’s the word I heard and stuck with me.
“Yes, they killed them all and started the pack all over again,” he says.
“Is there some chance that I might get killed?” I ask, worried for my safety.
“By law, they can’t, but you can apply, if they take you in, you’ll be on probation for three months, and they can kick you out any day,” he
says.
“So where do I apply?” I say happily..
