Eason and Yalena walked over.

Eason spotted Teresa handling business and shot her a look full of contempt. He sneered, “What, is Jonathan going bankrupt or something? Got his wife out here hustling deals for him now?”
At a moment like this, Teresa would never let Jonathan lose face. She shot back, “Mr. Kelly, you really do have a sense of humor. Since when does having a rich husband mean the wife can’t work?
“Besides, even if Jonathan went bankrupt, I’m pretty sure his assets would still be a notch above yours.”
Eason’s face changed instantly. He snapped, “Tell Jonathan he’d better watch himself–Yalena, let’s go.”
Yalena leaned in and whispered to Teresa, “You got lucky twice. Now that I’m out, get ready- I’m coming for you.”
Teresa thought, ‘Twice? What is she talking about?‘
But before she had a chance to ask, Yalena and Eason had already walked away.
For some reason, a sense of foreboding crept into Teresa’s heart.
Eason was pretty straightforward—whatever he was feeling showed right on his face, and he just had that intimidating vibe even when he wasn’t mad.
Yalena, on the other hand, was just way too sneaky for Teresa’s liking.
That night, Lucas showed up at Rosary Estates. He had been running around as an extra these days.
Teresa felt a little bad for him and poured him a hot drink. She asked, “Tired from playing extras all the time?”
Lucas said, “Not really. Gotta take it one step at a time–nobody gets to be the leading man that easy.”
Teresa said, “Just wait till I start making real money, Lucas. I’ll hook you up with some top directors, invest in your movies, and make you the leading man.”
Lucas grinned and nodded. He said, “That’s a pretty big dream you’re selling me–and it sounds delicious. I’ll take a bite first.”

Teresa couldn’t help but laugh. She wasn’t just feeding Lucas empty dreams. Lucas had been through so much already–she just wanted his road ahead to be a little smoother.
Just as they were eating, Lucas’s phone suddenly rang. After hearing what the other person said, his face darkened. He exclaimed, “What? Why did you go back there again? Alright, I got it.”
Seeing the worry on Lucas’s face, Teresa asked, “What’s going on?”
Lucas sighed, rubbing his temples. He explained, “I’ve got this friend who’s somehow gotten hooked on gambling lately. I gotta go pick him up again.”
Lucas had already had to pick this friend up once before. But apparently, his friend still hadn’t learned his lesson.
“Alright, go ahead then,” Teresa said.
Lucas didn’t have a car, so Teresa wanted to buy him one. She asked what brand he liked, but Lucas shook his head. He insisted on earning the money himself–he didn’t want Teresa to buy it for him.
Teresa said, “Then just take my Porsche for now. I’ll give you the keys.”
“Sure,” Lucas replied.
But it got really late, and Lucas still wasn’t back.
Teresa waited and waited. When she tried calling Lucas, he wouldn’t answer.
All of a sudden, her phone rang–a number with no caller ID flashed on the screen.
The voice on the other end said, “Teresa, it’s me. Lucas is here with me. You’d better get over here right now and see him for yourself, or I can’t promise what’ll happen to him next.”
Teresa asked, “Where are you?” Before she could finish, the other person hung up.
Teresa’s face went pale. She recognized the voice as Yalena’s. The next second, she received an address sent from Yalena.
The place was a secluded casino, tucked away somewhere almost impossible to find.
Yalena had already warned Teresa–no cops–so fearing she might do something ruthless to Lucas, Teresa went alone.
Teresa’s heart raced with unease. She didn’t dare imagine what Yalena might do to Lucas.
