Chapter 1029
Teresa said, “It’s no use calling him. He won’t even answer my calls at all now.”
Lucas shouted, “Teresa, don’t worry about me, and don’t you dare call Jonathan.”

While Yalena and Teresa were arguing, Lucas was already struggling desperately, finally managing to slip his arm free from the rope. He was about to fall, and nothing but broken glass was waiting for him below.
“Lucas!” Teresa screamed hysterically. She watched helplessly as Lucas fell, her heart seeming to stop in that instant.
But in the very next second, Yalena suddenly slammed a button, and all the shards of glass beneath Lucas vanished at once, replaced by solid ground. Lucas landed hard on the floor.
Teresa was about to rush over, but Yalena beat her to
To Teresa’s surprise, Yalena looked a bit nervous and concerned as she grabbed Lucas by the shoulders and checked on him. She asked, “Are you okay?”
Lucas shook Yalena off, rubbing his arm with stubborn resolve. He snapped, “I don’t know what grudge you have against my sister, but if you’ve got a problem, take it out on me. Leave her alone.”
Yalena sneered, “What a touching sibling bond you two have.”
Teresa rushed to his side, helping Lucas up anxiously, her eyes scanning him for injuries.
Lucas gave her a small shake of his head, letting her know he was fine.
Teresa whipped around and slapped Yalena hard across the face. She snapped, “Didn’t get enough of prison, did you? Want another round? Try me—I’ll send you right back in.”
Yalena wasn’t the type to just stand there and take it, but before she could react, Lucas stepped in front of Teresa, shielding her with his whole body.
Seeing how determined Lucas was to protect Teresa, Yalena suddenly shouted, “Count yourselves lucky. I’ll let you off the hook this time.”
“Teresa, let’s get out of here,” Lucas urged, not wanting her to make a scene.
But Teresa was still fuming, dying to give Yalena a piece of her mind and settle all their old and new grudges right then and there.
“Teresa, let’s go,” Lucas said again, clearly wanting to avoid any more trouble.

Seeing this, Teresa could only grit her teeth and support Lucas as they left together.
Yalena stared after Lucas, unwilling to let it go, her eyes glued to his back as he limped away.
Once they were in the car, Teresa turned to Lucas and asked, “Lucas, are you okay? Did Yalena do anything else to you?”
Lucas shook his head and said, “I am fine. My arm is a little dislocated, but it is not a big deal.”
Teresa gripped the steering wheel tightly and said, “Stay away from that woman–she’s incredibly vindictive. I never thought she’d target you.”
Lucas felt guilty for dragging Teresa into this. He asked, “Why does she want revenge on you and Jonathan in the first place?”
Teresa explained, “She’s Yalena, the heir of the Kelly family. She was the one Irene wanted Jonathan to marry, basically his intended fiancée. The media even reported that the two of them were supposed to get engaged.
“But you know how things turned out–obviously, the engagement never happened. The Kelly family became a laughingstock, and their stock price tanked.
“That’s why the head of the Kelly family went after Jonathan, and Yalena started coming after me. She even sent people to beat you up, and got me so worked up that I went into premature labor.
“I used to think she was obsessed with Jonathan and that’s why she targeted me, but now I think maybe she’s just that vindictive.”
“So that’s how it is,” Lucas said.
Teresa asked, “Do you know Yalena?”
Lucas replied, “Nope, never met her. If you hadn’t mentioned her, I wouldn’t even know her
name.”
Teresa said, “Really? Then why did she rush over just now and ask if you were hurt? She looked genuinely concerned about you.”
“I honestly have no clue,” Lucas replied, just as baffled. He didn’t know Yalena at all.
Teresa thought, ‘What the hell is Yalena playing at? Is she scheming something even nastier again? Why did she always go after Lucas?‘
