Chapter 945
After Benny left, Jonathan clasped Teresa’s hand in his, his voice rough and low. “I’ve found your brother for you, Teresa. When are you going to open your eyes and look at me?”
Why?
Jonathan pressed his face into Teresa’s palm, taking a deep, shaky breath. “As long as you wake up, as long as you’re okay, whatever you want from now on, I’ll give it to you… anything.”
His strong brow brushed slowly against her palm. “Maybe I never should’ve come back. If I hadn’t, none of this would’ve happened to you. Even if you don’t love me, I don’t care. I just want you to be okay.”
Teresa didn’t move at all.
Jonathan gently kissed the back of her hand. “Baby, please, I’m begging you, just wake up, okay? This is all my fault.”
Teresa still didn’t wake up.
Every second felt like an eternity to Jonathan.
Early the next morning, Gary still ended up bringing Michael over. It was not that Gary wanted to bring him, but it was like Michael and Teresa had some kind of sixth sense between them.
The little guy refused to eat or drink and kept pestering Gary, asking why he couldn’t go see Teresa. Left with no other option, Gary had to pick him up and bring him over himself.
“Mr. Daddy Lime! What’s wrong with Mommy? Why is she sleeping during the day?” Michael asked.
“She just had your baby brother, and she’s exhausted. Let’s let her rest for a while, okay?” Jonathan scooped Michael up pressed a kiss to his hair. In that moment, all that dangerous edge about him just disappeared.
“Come on, let’s go check on your little brother,” Jonathan said.
Gary followed them.
When they got to the next room, Jonathan set Michael down on the floor. Michael immediately spotted the little baby in the incubator. “Dad! Why is my little brother in there?” Michael asked.
“Because there are some bad germs outside. Once I get rid of all the germs, your brother can come out and be safe,” Jonathan explained.
Michael nodded seriously. “Then I want to help you get rid of the germs too. I’ll use alcohol spray.” The little one in the incubator heard that and turned his tiny head, his face tilting toward Michael.
They were so close that Michael carefully rested his hand on the outside of the glass cover.
“Hey there, Felix. Nice to meet you. I’m your big brother, Michael. Don’t be scared, okay? With me here, I’ll always protect you!” Michael said softly.
Right then, the baby in the incubator gaye a gentle little kick with his leg.
Gary couldn’t help but laugh. “Is Felix/saying hi to his big brother? I’m your uncle, Gary. How about a kick for me?”
But the baby stopped kicking.

Gary couldn’t help but laugh.
“Muffin, let’s go,” Jonathan said, picking Michael up in his arms.
“Dad, I want to stay here with Felix. He’ll be scared all alone.” Michael protested.
“We’ll come back to see him later. Ms. Doctor is here and she’ll take good care of him,” Jonathan hugged Michael close, and in that moment, a clear look of remorse flashed across his face.
Especially when he met Michael’s pure, trusting eyes, it hit him that he’d almost lost his son forever. He’d nearly made a mistake he could never take back.
Michael reluctantly waved goodbye. “Felix, I will come see you again soon, okay? Be a good boy, and when you get bigger, we’ll play together.”
After leaving the hospital room, Jonathan handed Michael over to Gary. Just then, Benny called him. Jonathan answered the call as he headed downstairs.
“It’s out,” Benny shouted, running over from the entrance with a report in his hand. “Lucas’s injury assessment report is out!” Benny said excitedly.
