Edward glanced anxiously at Jonathan.
Jonathan stayed calm. He knew Irene was just being dramatic.

Irene was bawling so loudly that Edward had to cover his ears. “Irene, please stop crying. Come on, try to pull yourself together.”
Irene instantly stopped sobbing. “You little rascal, what did you just say?”
“Uh, I mean, Irene, just focus on your re–education in the mountains. Can’t wait to see you come back all changed for the better!”
Irene was so mad she could practically spit blood. Let alone the tough life, Fiona was enough to make Irene afraid. Fiona radiated authority without even saying a word. Even Gordon was afraid of Fiona.
So she refused to stay with Fiona.
“Jonathan, Mom’s not going. I really won’t go!” Irene cried out, her voice desperate. Even after getting out of the car, she was still clawing at the door, looking completely disheveled and with no dignity
left.
But Jonathan wasn’t taking no for an answer this time. No matter what, he was sending her to Fiona. After all, Fiona was Irene’s own mother. If anyone could whip her into shape, it was her.
So, with Irene wailing at the top of her lungs, a few bodyguards just picked her up and hauled her straight onto the helicopter. The helicopter roared off into the distance.
At that moment, Jonathan thought, ‘Ah, finally, peace and quiet at last.‘
Edward looked puzzled. “Jonathan, you really sent Irene to Fiona’s place?”
“What else?” Jonathan replied.
“But Irene probably can’t handle it, right? She kept saying in the car she’d rather go abroad. Why not just send her overseas?”
“She just refuses to enjoy the good life and insists on coming back to stir up trouble for me. Let Fiona keep an eye on her. I’m done babysitting her.” With that, Jonathan walked away, looking all serious
and cold.
Edward scrambled to catch up, afraid Jonathan would just ditch him right there on the helipad.
“Jonathan, when will Irene be back?” Edward asked.

Chapter 950
“New Year’s Day,” Jonathan replied.
“Oh man, that’s ages from now,” Edward muttered, giving Irene a silent three–second tribute in his heart.
No one knew if Irene would actually come back a changed woman.
“By the way, Jonathan, walk me through how you almost killed someone. Did you really lose control and nearly go too far?” Edward asked, his curiosity getting the better of him.
Jonathan gave Edward a deadpan look. He raised an eyebrow. “You wanna find out?”
Seeing Jonathan’s hand start to move, Edward sucked in a sharp breath. “No, no, forget it. I’m not curious anymore. Jonathan, we can’t just kill people. Think about your wife and kids!”
Jonathan didn’t say anything else.
Benny had already gone back to Nareigh. He had to check on the case involving Lucas.
Jonathan decided it was better not to tell Evelyn yet, in case she couldn’t take the shock. He’d wait until they got the results of Lucas’s injury report before telling her anything.
Teresa was still out cold. Miriam never left her side, not even for a second. When Jonathan tried to
approach, Miriam blocked his way and wouldn’t let him get close.
Edward was caught in the middle, not knowing how to smooth things over.
“Jonathan, you’d better make sure your mom never comes near Teresa again, or she’ll just start badmouthing her or picking on her all over again,” Miriam snapped.
“I had no idea what my mom was doing to Teresa. I only found out recently. I just don’t get why she kept tolerating my mom and never told me about it,” Jonathan said.
Miriam was left at a loss for words. “Why do you think? Why would Teresa put up with your mom? Are
you an idiot or what?” she shot back.
Edward was still clueless “So what’s the reason then?”
