The car stopped in front of a villa.
The sight of two adults and a child walking down the sycamore–lined path stabbed into her heart like a knife.
She watched them having dinner in the garden, saw him sitting on the lawn lifting the child high while Michelle smiled blissfully beside him, Walter’s face brimming with tenderness.
Only when the child yawned and the nanny took him away did Walter’s car slowly leave the villa, parking in the base- ment of his and Amy’s marital home.
Amy followed them in, almost masochistically, hearing Walter’s familiar voice.
“Did
you bring me here just to find some excitement?”
She froze, stopping behind a pillar.
Through the half–open car window, she saw Walter lounging lazily in his seat while Michelle, beside him, lifted her skirt and straddled his legs.
A voice soft and seductive to the core followed.
“Today is Robert’s death anniversary. I know you’re hurting, and I want to comfort you properly.”
Walter grabbed her teasing hand, his voice turning low.
“If it weren’t for your loud moaning during our play that Robert heard, he wouldn’t have panicked, hid from me, and fallen into the pool.”
“You gave me another heir to make up for it, but you’ve had to stay hidden without status. Must’ve been hard on you.”
Amy trembled in pain, squatting down and covering her mouth, forcing back the scream raging in her throat.
Her teeth drew blood from her palm, her heart carved out like raw flesh.
She’d always believed her negligence caused it… that she’d failed to protect her child.
All these years, she drowned in guilt, wishing death could atone for her sin.
Yet the truth was: her “devoted” husband killed her child while fucking another woman!
“I’d do anything for you, as long as Amy doesn’t get angry.
“You know I fear nothing more than losing you.”
Michelle wrapped her arms around his neck, her dress pooling on the floor as Walter pulled her lithe body against his chest.

His eyes glazed as he pinned her beneath him, one hand gripping her throat while the other untied his tie to bind her
wrists.
“I love Amy too. That’s why I’ll never let her discover this.”
Michelle gasped as his thrusts sent her soaring, staring at Walter’s chiseled face with feverish cheeks.
“I understand… I feel guilty too.”
“I’ve decided–let’s give Nathan to Amy.
“To ease her grief for our lost child.”
Walter paused mid–thrust, gripping her chin with a smirk.
“You just want her tied down with a kid so we can fuck freely, don’t you?”
“Be good. Ride me yourself–or need instructions?”
Michelle’s sultry laugh pierced the window, her moans echoing through the garage with the rocking car.
“Walter… so good… harder…”
The car shook again, but Amy was already gone.
She sat alone before Robert’s tombstone, tears long dried up.
Her phone buzzed relentlessly, Walter’s messages flooding in.
“Honey, where are you?”
“Sorry, my meeting ran late.”
Amy stared at the screen, her eyes bloodshot red, yet she managed a smile.
Only she remained trapped in the agony of losing her child.
All these years of suffering–Walter had inflicted them upon her himself!
Their happy family of three thrived, leaving her only a cold tombstone.
His declarations of love filled her with nothing but disgust.
When the phone rang again, she glanced at it and finally answered.
A cool male voice came through. “Amy, it’s Keith.
I know research doesn’t interest you, but letting your talent go to waste dwelling on past pain is such a shame.”
“I’ve prepared everything. Just come, and you’ll call the shots on all research topics and experiments.”
Instead of hanging up like before, she replied calmly, “Alright, I’ll go.”

Chapter 2
“On one condition: I’ll be in the first test group.”
After a long silence, Keith heard Amy’s unwavering voice.
“I volunteer for the memory–erasing electroshock trials. I’ll bear sole responsibility for any consequences.”
On her way back, Amy contacted her lawyer.
“I want a divorce. Draft the papers immediately.”
“No need to inform Walter. He’s aware.”
