Chapter 17
Apology…
My smile vanished.
Clutching the prepared divorce agreement, I forced calmness into my voice.
“Are you coming back tonight?”
I clearly heard Caroline’s sweet voice.“Jaxson, whose phone is it?”
“The company’s phone, he said casually, unconcerned about the call.“What time do you get off work? I can pick you up on the way to get
Collin.”
Caroline laughed even more happily, “I’m not busy, I got off work at six.”
By the time I processed this, he’d ended the call.
Gloom settled over me.
I looked at the signed divorce agreement.
He was supposed to come and sign it, but he didn’t even have the patience to listen.
It was
ridiculous.
I shouldn’t have taken his promises seriously back then.
Jaxson and Caroline picked up Collin from kindergarten.

He saw Jaxson and broke free from the principal’s hand, running towards him.“Dad!”
He threw himself at Jaxson’s feet, hugging his thigh, his eyes filled with joy.“Dad, are you and Mom here to pick me up?”
The principal smiled.“Mr. Hamilton, Mrs. Hamilton, little Mr. Hamilton did so well in class today, he even got rewarded with a little red flower!*
Jaxson’s eyes flashed with displeasure.
He glanced at the principal.“What Mrs. Hamilton?”
The principal was stunned.
Wasn’t she?
Caroline quickly intervened.“Jaxson, don’t be angry, the principal didn’t mean to shout like that on purpose.”
Then to the principal, “Don’t shout randomly in front of people in the future.”
The principal was utterly confused.
What did that mean?
She hinted that.
And the kindergarten knew this was Jaxson’s son.
If Caroline wasn’t Mrs. Hamilton… who was this child?
The wealthy are truly chaotic!
Collin was scared by Jaxson’s expression Dad did I do something wrong?
