Chapter 18
Jaxson looked at Collin, a child who knew nothing.
His large hand rested on Collin’s head, his tone softening.
“It’s none of your business, but I’m not your dad, next time call me uncle.”
He understood Collin’s lack of a father figure.
But for some reason, being called “dad” in front of others annoyed him.
Caroline clenched her fists, hiding the cruelty in her eyes.
He hadn’t minded before…
Collin lowered his head, disappointment evident.“I understand…”

After the principal left, Caroline said with a grievance, “Jaxson, I’m sorry, I didn’t expect the headmaster to misunderstand our relationship. Collin and I have caused you trouble, if this matter is serious, I will change Collin to another kindergarten.”
Jaxson rubbed his nose bridge, maintaining his patience.
“It’s okay, it won’t happen again.”
The principal had made it clear; it wouldn’t be repeated.
The three of them got in the car. Someone captured this heartwarming scene.
I sat at the home bar, drinking two glasses of wine.
I wasn’t a heavy drinker, only occasionally having a couple of whiskeys.
The sound of the door opening startled me.
Jaxson walked into the hallway, his suit jacket draped over his arm, wearing only a gray silk shirt.
He changed his shoes and looked at me.‘
e.“Have you been drinking?”
I came to my senses.
“I had some,” I said calmly.
I put down the glass, stood, and walked past him.
The bright light reflected on my cheeks, highlighting the redness.
His eyes were like torches.“What’s wrong with your face?”
I was startled.
I couldn’t help but laugh inwardly.
When had he even noticed?
Before I could answer, a man’s voice came from behind “Did your dad hit you?”
