I took it and said lightly, “Thank you.”
I walked past Caroline and entered the office.
I casually threw the small gift into the cabinet.
I did receive it, but whether to use it or not is another matter.
Caroline walked in at that moment, still smiling on her face.
“Dr. Sutton, do you know Jaxson?”
I turned on the computer and looked at Caroline’s probing eyes, my smile vanishing.
“Not familiar.”
“I thought you were close with Jaxson.”

Caroline pretended to be regretful, then smiled and said, “But it’s okay, in the future if you need anything, you can come to me and I’ll talk to Jaxson for you. Jaxson is such a good person, you have no idea. Last night, Collin had a stomachache, and Jaxson came over in the middle of the night just to take care of him all night.”
My breath caught.
Last night I had already guessed that Jaxson went to see Caroline.

The nurse’s voice came from outside the door.

“Sorry, Dr. Sutton, 1 have to go busy first.”
She turned around and walked away, a hint of satisfaction flashing in her eyes.
My clenched hand slowly loosened.
After taking a deep breath, a smirk appeared at the corner of my mouth.
He wanted to claim this child; what does it have to do with me?
