Chapter 29 

I bit my lip, looking somewhat gloomy.

I put down my bag and said, “I’m going to cook.”

I was busy in the kitchen.

On weekdays, the nanny would always have vegetables and meat in the refrigerator.

In the past, when I wasn’t busy, I would personally cook and wait for Jaxson to come back.

Even if Jaxson didn’t come back for dinner, I would personally reheat the food for him when he arrived later.

But he never moved, just saying I didn’t need to do all of that.

For six years, I had tried to fulfill my duties as a wife, but he rejected them all.

I didn’t want to anymore, and he started bossing me around again? 

I didn’t think much; I just wanted to

quickly prepare the meal.

Just as I was reaching for the vinegar in the upper cabinet, my hand couldn’t reach it.

In an instant, a shadow fell over me and effortlessly took the bottle of vinegar_down.

I could feel the tall and hot body behind me, almost enveloping me. 

I did have intimate contact with him; once in the bathroom, when he pressed me against the wall and demanded I turn around, it was just as scorching.

I suddenly came to my senses and moved to the side, “The food isn’t ready yet; you go out and wait first.”

Seeing me seemingly deliberately avoiding him, Jaxson’s eyes darkened slightly as he pulled me into his arms.

My body went rigid.

“What’s with the resistance? You never played hard to get before.” 

The sinile in his eyes, however, was somewhat teasing.

My heart skipped a beat; my whole face flushed red.

Ashamed and embarrassed.

So is this considered an insult to me? 

“This isn’t… appropriate. 

“Since when?” 

Jaxson’s palm wrapped around my waist slipped under my dress.

I instinctively stopped him, but the man became more audacious, laughing, “Don’t think I’ve had you in the kitchen before,” he murmured against my ear, voice thick with intent.

I’d seen him like this before–that raw, unrestrained hunger when he wanted something. 

Just the thought of him sleeping with Caroline made me sick to my stomach.

Sensible and sober, I pushed away the lips that were trying to kiss me, saying, “I don’t want to!”
