Chapter 306
In Norava, after just two days of resting at home, Amelia couldn’t stay put any longer.
She missed Landon! She missed him like crazy!
Ever since Landon left for the Montgomery family, he hadn’t reached out to anyone back home.
He wasn’t free. No one knew when he’d be back.
‘Am I supposed to just wait at home?‘ Amelia thought to herself.
No, she didn’t want to just wait. She wanted to go to Dreicean and see Landon herself.
Even if she could only catch a glimpse of him from a distance, that would be enough.
As long as he was safe and sound, she could finally relax.
“Amy, right?” A cool voice came from behind her. Amelia spun around quickly.
Night Owl was leaning against the door, a faint smile on her pale face.
“Night Owl,” Amelia said as she walked over and gently helped her. “You’re not in the best health, so try to get more rest, okay? Are you getting used to living here? If anything feels off, just tell the butler or me, all right?”
“Do you want to go to Dreicean to find him?” Night Owl asked.
Amelia froze for a second, then her face lit up with excitement. “C–Can I?”
“Yes, I’ll take you,” Night Owl replied, her smile growing wider. “Do you dare?”
“I’m not afraid!” Amelia nodded firmly. For Landon, there’s nothing she wouldn’t do.
“Alright, we’ll slip away quietly tomorrow,” Night Owl said with a sly smile.
“Wait, we’re not telling anyone?” Amelia asked, a bit uncertain.
She furrowed her brows.
‘Kayla will definitely worry about me…‘ Amelia thought.
“I’ve already talked to Kayla. We just can’t let Aiden know,” Night Owl said, a flash of annoyance in her eyes.
Amelia suddenly realized.
These past few days, Aiden had been acting like he was under some kind of spell, sticking to Night Owl like glue.
This made Night Owl absolutely sick of him!
But since they were all living under the same roof, there wasn’t much she could do about it–besides, they still needed Aiden’s help to deal with the Mystic Sect.
Amelia remembered the time when Aiden had been pursuing her. At the thought of this, she felt a shiver run down her spine.
“Night Owl, I totally understand how you feel,” Amelia said with a soft smile. “As long as Kayla agrees, we’ll sneak out quietly!”

“Mm,” Amelia nodded.
Night Owl looked visibly more at ease.
‘Anyone would be frustrated if Aiden kept pestering them!
‘If Night Owl had feelings for Aiden, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. But if she didn’t, it must be pure suffering, Amelia mused.
“Night Owl, it’s rare to see you feeling up to visiting me. Why don’t you sit down for a while?” Amelia offered.
“Mm,” Night Owl nodded.
She was more than happy to accept the invitation.
Aiden, that clingy nuisance, was still camped out in the living room downstairs.
As the two women chatted and sipped their coffee on the terrace, Night Owl suddenly brought up the past. “I heard Aiden secretly snapped a photo of you. Did that make you mad?”
“I was at first,” Amelia admitted honestly. “But after I learned about your connection with Landon, I wasn’t bothered anymore.”
“You really believe everything people say, huh? But what if Kayla ever tricked you?” Night Owl asked.
“No way,” Amelia replied firmly.
“She’s your sister–in–law, not your real sister. Of course, she’s going to take her brother’s side,” Night Owl pointed out.
“Kayla would never,” Amelia insisted.
She was unwavering in her belief, while Night Owl narrowed her eyes at the distant scenery. “You’re really lucky. The right person ended up in the right family.”
Worried that Night Owl might slip back into the grief over Dawson’s death, Amelia quickly changed the subject. “Night Owl, we’re all so glad to have you with us.”
“I know,” Night Owl replied with a gentle smile, though the sadness in her eyes deepened.
Amelia found herself at a loss, not sure what to say to make Night Owl feel better.
So, the two of them just sat there, quietly sipping their coffee in silence.
The afternoon sunlight and gentle breeze made everything feel so pleasant, but Night Owl hadn’t been sitting long before she dozed off again.
Amelia glanced sideways at her pale face and let out a soft sígh, her heart aching for her.
It felt like Night Owl wasn’t just sad–she seemed to be intentionally wearing herself down.
‘If Aiden could be the one to comfort her, that wouldn’t be so bad…‘ Amelia thought.
In Dreicean, Monica and Paul were so wrapped up in each other that they couldn’t stand to be apart for even a moment.
Monroe was completely fed up, so he simply stopped coming home.

Out of sight, out of mind!
Finally, Paul found a chance to let Landon stretch his legs and get some fresh air.
“You can’t go too far. Just grab a coffee somewhere near the villa–I’ve already? set everything up for you,” Paul said.
“Alright,” Landon replied.
‘Not bad at all,‘ Landon thought, feeling pretty satisfied with this arrangement.
Anyway, until he figured out what was going on inside the Mystic Sect, he had no plans to leave the Montgomery family.
He just wanted to step out for a bit, mainly to check in with his family back home and let them know he was safe.
These past few days, Amelia probably hadn’t been eating or sleeping well at all, worrying about him.
‘When will I finally be able to give her a normal life?‘ Landon thought to himself.
Under the watchful eyes of Paul and his men, Landon made his way to a café about a kilometer away.
The table, the coffee–every detail had been arranged in advance by Paul.
It was lunchtime, but hardly anyone came in for coffee, and there were very few people coming or going.
The phone Landon was using now was a new one Monroe had given him. The only contacts in it were the Montgomery family’s landline, plus Monroe and Monica.
Not that he had any use for it.
Nor could he even browse the web with it.
Just as he was trying to figure out how to discreetly borrow a phone from one of the waitstaff, a young couple walked into the cafe.
The guy was tall and skinny, while the girl was dressed androgynously, her face hidden behind a large mask.
When they spotted Landon, a flash of surprise crossed both their eyes.
Landon put a hand to his forehead, feeling both helpless and amused.
‘My honey actually chased me all the way here!‘ he thought, a mix of surprise and disbelief running through his mind.
Sure enough, the girl in the couple was Amelia, and that tall, skinny “guy” was Night Owl in disguise.
The two of them had switched up their styles completely–their disguises were pretty convincing.
Landon felt a wild mix of excitement and shock–he didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
‘These two are too crazy! How did they even dare to chase me all the way to Dreicean?‘ Landon thought, both exasperated and amused.
Amelia also never imagined she’d bump into Landon at the very first place they stopped after arriving in Dreicean.
If Night Owl hadn’t been wiped out and needed a break, they wouldn’t have even walked into this café.
‘Fate’s totally on my side!‘ Amelia thought, her heart pounding with excitement.
Landon quickly sent her a mental message. [Don’t look at me. Someone’s watching.]

Amelia immediately looked away, clinging to Night Owl’s arm as they picked a table,
She didn’t dare sit too close to Landon, worried it might draw suspicion. But she also didn’t want to sit too far, afraid she might miss
mental message.
Therefore, she chose a spot about six feet away, using the tall plants for cover.
They didn’t dare speak out loud, so both of them frantically tapped away on their phones, using WhatsApp to secretly chat back and forth
[Amy, seriously, don’t get too worked up. Don’t call out to him, and whatever you do, don’t go over there!] Night Owl messaged.
I know, Night Owl, don’t worry.] Amelia replied.
The two of them ordered coffee, some desserts, and a fruit platter.
By ordering a bunch and eating at a snail’s pace, they had the perfect excuse to linger in the café for a while.
Amelia kept her cool, which finally let Night Owl relax a bit.
But how on earth were they supposed to talk to Landon?
‘Are we seriously supposed to sneak into the men’s restroom together?‘ Amelia thought, feeling a little helpless.
Just as Night Owl was at a loss, Amelia shot her a quick message. [He told us not to bother him. He’s fine for now.]
Night Owl blinked in surprise.
‘Wait, I didn’t hear them say a word,‘ she thought, puzzled.
‘Using their phones to talk? No, that can’t be right!‘ Night Owl frowned inwardly.
Just as Night Owl was about to make a move, she noticed Landon holding the handle of his coffee cup with one hand and stirring it with a spoon in the other.
He hadn’t touched his phone at all!
Night Owl was baffled. ‘Is Amelia trying to fool me?‘ she thought.
[Night Owl, don’t even think about using any hypnosis tricks here.] Amelia messaged.
Night Owl couldn’t take it anymore and shot back. [Are you okay?]
[I’m fine! Oh, I forgot to tell you–I can hear Landon’s thoughts.] Amelia sent the message, waited for Night Owl to read it, and then quickly deleted it.
Night Owl was stunned speechless!
