Chapter 323
Since Landon was dragged back from the café by Monica’s father, he hadn’t been
Amelia went to the café twice more, but each time she left disappointed.
Her longing for him surged like endless waves.
‘Landon, are you okay? Did they set you up again?‘ Amelia worried to herself.
able to leave the house.
She wasn’t scared he’d get roughed up—what really scared her was someone scheming against him again.
There were just way too many weird and unpredictable things in the Mystic Sect.
She was terrified that some new kind of curse or trick would pop up–one she couldn’t do anything about–and they’d use it on Landon.
“Worried about him?” Night Owl asked, splitting the apple pie Aiden had brought into two bowls and handing one to Amelia.
But Amelia just stared at the bowl–she couldn’t bring herself to eat a single bite.
“Night Owl, I’m really scared…” she whispered.
“Don’t worry. Landon is the toughest man I’ve ever known. If anyone can get through this, it’s him,” Night Owl said with absolute confidence.
Night Owl sat down beside Amelia, and together they took in the night view through the floor–to–ceiling windows.
The soft glow of the city lights outshone the stars above, making the night sky seem even darker.
Streams of traffic flowed below–so much life and bustle, yet the city still felt achingly lonely.
The longer Amelia looked, the sadder she felt, her eyes growing red and misty with unshed tears.
She missed Landon so much.
She missed being in his arms, missed his scent–everything about him.
The last time they’d shared a bed felt like it had happened in another lifetime.
“This is just the darkest part before dawn. Hang in there a little longer, and you’ll get through it,” Night Owl said, spooning up her apple pie and urging Amelia, “Come on, eat. You’ve lost so much weight these past few days. Landon’s going to be heartbroken when he sees you like this.”
Amelia thought to herself, ‘Yeah, he’d be worried sick about me.‘
Just like she ached for him…
She needed to pull herself together and be at her best when he came home.
Amelia lifted the bowl and tipped it back, downing the apple pie in one go, just like she was drinking water.
Night Owl laughed. “That was pretty straightforward of you.”
“Too bad I was born into the Edwards family. If I’d grown up with the Zuckerbergs, maybe I’d be one of you,” Amelia said with a little smile.
The Zuckerbergs didn’t just raise proper young men and ladies–they made sure everyone was tough, too.
Maisie was way stronger than her, and she could even handle a gun.
But Amelia couldn’t do any of that stuff
Chapter 323
“Night Owl, why don’t you teach me how to shoot?” Amelia asked.
“Guns are dangerous,” Night Owl replied, refusing flatly.
Night Owl thought, ‘A pampered beauty like Amelia should just live carefree, basking in her family’s affection.
“Come on, Night Ow!! Teach me, please! Who knows, maybe one day I’ll actually need it,” Amelia pleaded, refusing to give up.
Amelia kept pestering Night Owl, and finally, Night Owl had no choice but to give in. She unloaded her gun and patiently showed Amelia how to handle it, how to aim, and how to pull the trigger.
Amelia was loving every minute of it, totally absorbed in the lesson.
She was a quick learner, too–before long, she had the basics down.
“Next time we get a chance, I’ll take you to the shooting range to practice your aim,” Night Owl said.
“Awesome! Count me in!” Amelia practically jumped at the chance.
She couldn’t have asked for more.
If she could be as tough as they were, she could really have Landon’s back.
‘I’m exhausted. Time to sleep,‘ Night Owl thought, flopping onto the bed without even bothering to wash her face or brush her teeth.
She was still wearing the same pajamas she’d put on before her last “nap.”
But tonight, she actually felt pretty good. Even though she was tired, she just lay there, not falling asleep right away.
Amelia rolled onto her side and said, “Aiden’s skills at making apple pie are getting better and better. Owl, are you thinking about saying yes to him?”
“Not a chance,” Night Owl shot back instantly.
“Then why do you keep having his apple pie every single day?” Amelia teased.
Night Owl froze for a second, then her ears turned bright red.
Wow, when did I start getting so used to his apple pie?‘ she thought to herself.
“Oh, whatever, I’m tired! Let’s just go to sleep!” Night Owl blurted out.
Amelia rolled over and tried to sleep.
But Night Owl just lay there, eyes wide open until morning.
The next day at the Montgomery family home, Landon stepped out of Monica’s room looking totally refreshed.
Watching his enemies shoot themselves in the foot always put him in a great mood.
And with a good mood came a good night’s sleep
Monroe looked Landon over, satisfied with his energy. “You’re my son–in–law now, Landon. You should show some backbone.”
“Sure,” Landon said.
“Where’s Monica?” Monroe asked.
Chapter 323
“She’s sulking and won’t come out,” Landon replied.
“Then just let her stay in her room! We’ve spoiled her enough already,” Monroe huffed.
“Understood,” Landon replied.
A faint smile played at the corner of Landon’s lips.
Actually, this was all part of a deal between him and Monica–they’d agreed to fake having shared a bed, just to fool Monica’s father and make sure they didn’t have to spend too much time together.
Just then, Monroe’s phone buzzed with a new message.
He glanced at it, then deleted it without a word.
Then he stood up. “I’ve got some business to take care of. You stay here and keep an eye on her. Make sure she doesn’t sneak off to see Paul againg
“What if she doesn’t listen?” Landon asked.
“Then have the bodyguards deal with her,” Monroe said.
“Understood,” Landon replied.
Hearing that from Monroe, Landon finally felt at ease.
Sure enough, as soon as Monroe left, Monica came out of her room, all dressed up in a new outfit, clearly planning to go see Paul.
Landon immediately gave the order, “Bodyguards.”
The two bodyguards who were supposed to be keeping an eye on him stepped in front of Monica. “Miss, Paul is still recovering from his injuries. You can’t see him right now.”
“You dare stop me?” Monica exploded, her eyes blazing with fury.
“This is Mr. Montgomery’s order,” Landon said, lounging on the sofa with his legs crossed, looking every bit the master of the house.
Monica stormed over to Landon, jabbing her finger right in his face. “What the hell are you? You think you can boss me around?”
“Careful what you say. There are cameras everywhere,” Landon warned her quietly.
Monica paused, then just grinned.
She shook off the bodyguards and headed straight for the security room, flipping the main switch.
Every single camera in the Montgomery house went dark.
“Landon, we’re all clear now,” Monica said, chin held high, looking super smug.
Landon gave her a thumbs–up. “You’re awesome! But if your dad comes back early, I’m the one who’ll get it…”
“My dad won’t be back for at least two days, so just chill! With the cameras down, he won’t have a clue what we’ve been up to,” Monica said confidently.
“What about them?” Landon asked, glancing at the bodyguards.
Monica frowned. “Ugh, they’re such a pain!”
Then she hurried off to the kitchen.
Soon, a pot of cooling soup was prepared in the kitchen, and everyone in the Montgomery household got a share.

Chapter 323
After drinking the soup, the whole family collapsed one after another.
“Haha, now everything’s set!” Monica said, giving Landon–who was just faking being knocked out a playful kick, then humming a little tune is che skipped off to find Paul..
Paul was still too injured to get out of bed, just lying there totally in his feels.
When he suddenly saw Monica walk in, his whole face lit up with joy. “Monica…”
“Honey, I’m here!” Monica chirped, diving straight into his arms.
Paul tensed up, instinctively glancing toward the door.
‘What if Mr. Montgomery catches us again… he worried.
“Don’t worry, my dad’s out. I cut the cameras, so he won’t have a clue I came to see you,” Monica said, looking super proud of her little stunt.
Paul was so touched he kissed her cheek. “But there are still a lot of people in the house…”
“I knocked everyone out with sleeping powder,” Monica replied with a grin.
“What?” Paul’s eyes went wide, cold sweat breaking out on his forehead.
“What about Landon?” he stammered, his voice trembling.
“He’s out too! I made sure to use plenty–trust me, they’ll be knocked out for the whole night. Now, nothing and no one can keep us apart,” Monica said with a triumphant grin.
“But…” Paul looked so miserable.
Monica immediately understood, grinned, and pinched his cheek. “Relax, babe, I didn’t let him lay a finger on me.”
“Seriously? And he was okay with that?” Paul asked, still sounding a bit doubtful.
“I told him I’d rather die than let him touch me. If he loves me, he has to deal with it,” Monica said matter–of–factly.
Paul thought it over and had to admit, she made sense.
That love spell was insanely strong–wasn’t that exactly why Monica kept indulging and spoiling him all the time?
With the whole family knocked out, they finally had nothing to worry about and could do whatever they wanted.
It didn’t take long before they were all over each other, whispering sweet nothings and getting handsy.
They were completely wrapped up in each other, lost in love and desire, totally inseparable.
All day long, they never even left the room.
