Such a delicate young lady, yet living in a place like this–it really seemed like an injustice to
her.
But she appeared completely indifferent.
Ronan considered himself familiar with all sorts of women, yet none were like her–impossible to read.
She was like a veil of mist, wearing the mask of a harmless rabbit, but what lay behind it, only
she knew.
Ronan merely glanced at her and planned to leave.
Perhaps because breakfast had somewhat bridged the distance between them, her tone softened slightly. “What are we having for dinner tonight?”
They had just eaten breakfast, and she was already worrying about dinner?
Ronan’s face darkened. “I won’t be back tonight.”
With that, he left the room without any intention of further interaction.
We? Do I even know her well enough for that?
And she expects I to cook for her?
Dream on.
Isla didn’t get angry. She checked the time—almost nine o’clock—and grabbed her keys, stepping out.

The Beaumont residence.
Last night’s events had sent the entire household into turmoil.
Jasper and Owen had rushed back early in the morning. The family sat together for breakfast.
Julian, sitting at the head of the table, said to Cora, “Call that unfilial girl and make her come back here.”
Cora frowned. “Why should I call her? I don’t have her number.”

“What’s going on?” Jasper and Owen exchanged a glance, puzzled.
Julian, clearly irritated, recounted the events of last night to his brothers.

Aurora, feeling guilty, comforted Julian. “Dad, don’t be angry. This was my fault. Isla’s anger is understandable. It’s fine–I’ll go apologize to her.”
Julian’s temper flared. “Why should you apologize? That brat is insane–daring to threaten even her own family. Jasper, you and Owen go fetch her today. I want to see if she dares to be insolent in front of me.”
Jasper frowned. “This is indeed too much. Three years, and she hasn’t grown a bit.”
Owen’s tone was cold. “Go, Jasper. I don’t want to see her.”
Aurora lowered her head, feeling guilty. “Yesterday, our teacher said we were going to Cloudie University for an experimental research project. I heard that Gideon’s third student, Angle, will be participating, so I can’t go with you.”
“Gideon?” Cora’s eyes lit up. “That’s a world–renowned medical professor.”
“Yes.” Aurora nodded shyly. “I didn’t expect the teacher to choose me to go along. It’s not Gideon himself, but I heard this student is also very talented. While abroad, she achieved many accomplishments. I want to build a good relationship with her so that I can later ask for help in treating Ronan’s leg.”
Ronan’s leg injury from the recent car accident, though not severe, might leave some complications.
Aurora didn’t want her future man to have any
defects.
Gideon was notoriously difficult to approach, and her student even more so.
But Aurora was confident in herself—if she could get close, nothing would be impossible.
“Of course, Aurora is so outstanding that she can participate in such research just after joining the hospital. Her future is bound to be extraordinary. Make sure to build a good relationship with Angle,” Cora said, gently stroking her hair with maternal pride.
Jasper and Owen were equally proud of their younger sister.
Owen, who had just been unhappy about Isla, finally spoke up. “Since Aurora says it like that, I can’t refuse. Don’t worry. I’ll make sure to bring her back.”
His final words carried a hint of coldness.
Aurora’s lips curved into a mischievous smile as she playfully hooked her arm around Owen.

“Thanks, Owen. I believe that if I try hard, Isla will definitely forgive me.”

Ever since Owen’s ex–girlfriend had been killed because of Isla, Isla had been wary of him.
She was looking forward to the upcoming encounter.

“Mr. Ellsworth, are you really going to personally go find Gideon’s student?” David asked while driving, glancing at the man in the rearview mirror.
Yesterday, they had sent an invitation to one of Gideon’s students, but there had been no reply so far.
Today, upon learning that she had been invited by Cloudie University to participate in an experiment, they immediately notified Ronan.
David hadn’t expected Ronan to come personally.
Seeing that his injuries hadn’t fully healed, David couldn’t help but feel concerned.
Ronan had already changed into a black suit; his presence seemed like a completely different
person.
He didn’t speak, but David could already guess what he was thinking.
David sighed. The car arrived at the school’s back entrance.
Compared with the bustling main gate, this side was quiet. Ronan didn’t want to attract attention, especially given the sensitivity of his current status.
Though construction noise from the new teaching building being built here still carried, making the area somewhat lively.
